My Date With a Vampire II

This review does not contain a synopsis of the show, so if that's what you're looking for, don't bother reading on. This review is short and meant as an opinion by me and what I feel about this show.

A Brief Profile of the Main Characters:
Fong Tien Yao: A vampire that was bitten by Jurng Sun 60 years ago, Tien Yao never drinks human blood for he doesn't want anyone to suffer like he did. He loves Siu Ling and they would work together to hunt vampires and other evil spirits. ( Class 2 Vampire )

Mah Siu Ling: The 41st descendant of the Mah Clan of vampire slayers. She fell in love with Tien Yao even though she knows she is not supposed to, for if she sheds a tear for a man, she'll lose her powers.

Jurng Sun: The first vampire, or also known as the Vampire King, he is the most powerful vampire on Earth. His abilities exceed far greater than those of Tien Yao or Seto Fun Yun. He is in love with the Nuwa Goddess and plans to bring the apocalypse upon the world. ( Class 1 vampire )

Nuwa Goddess: The creator of the Earth. She sees the world as corrupted and full of evil and hatred. She only sees the bad in the world so she decides to wipe it clean with an apocalypse and start again.

Seto Fun Yun: Once known as "The Saviour" for he was believed to be able to heal, but with this power comes consequences. Every time he heals, one is killed. He is also the reincarnation of the Japanese soldier that Tien Yao fought in MDWAV 1. He was dying of a disease until Jurng Sun came in and bit him.... ( Class 2 Vampire )

Wong Jun Jun: She is an elementary school teacher that lives across Siu Ling. She is also best friends with Siu Ling and is very decent and kind-hearted. She is the reincarnation of Seto's past life's lover. Jun Jun's death caused Tien Yao to transform into a Super Vampire.

Mah Ding Dong: She once loved Jurng Sun and still show a little feeling for him. She lost her powers because she cried for Jurng Sun for breaking her heart. She sacrificed herself in an attempt to destroy the Nuwa Goddess.

Tong Boon Jing: Bitten by Crow, a class 2 vampire, Tong Boon Jing's real terror started when Mei Loi, the woman that he loves and bit, is giving birth to their son. He sucked the blood of 50 people at once, thus making him even more powerful than Siu Ling or Tien Yao. But in the end, he was destroyed by the combined efforts of Tien Yao, Seto Fun Yun, Mei Loi, and Siu Ling. He also has the ability to make dreams into reality. ( Class 3 Vampire )

Gum Mei Loi: Bitten by Tong Boon Jing in a dream, she became impregnated by him as well. Prophecy states that the child will be unbelievably strong and extremely evil.......( Class 4 Vampire )

Lei Lok: he son of Mei Loi. He was prophesized to be the greatest evil, but he turned out to be one of the good guys. He has a life span of 3 months and his life was meant to help end the upcoming apocalypse.

Likes about the show:
- The love story was pretty good
- Character portrayal

Dislikes about the show:
- Too much detail
- Graphics and effects suck
- Plagiarism

I thought the love story in MDWAV was good. The plot tells of how Tien Yao must reject Jun Jun because he doesn't love her because it was his grandson who loved her. And how Siu Ling cannot express her love towards Tien Yao because she cannot shed a tear for a man or else she'll lose her powers. Another great plot is between Jurng Sun and Ding Dong, on how they couldn't kill each other because they loved each other once. But Jurng Sun still loves the Nuwa Goddess more and would kill anyone, even Ding Dong, if they try to harm her.

The way that the characters were each portrayed is actually one of the assets of this series. The way each character showed suffering and love was well done, especially Kenneth Chan's role as Seto Fun Yun.

One thing bad about this series is that it has too much detail. With each characters history and background, from MDWAV 1 and 2, it gets confusing. And sometimes the story would drag too long. There are a few episodes where they do nothing but talk.

Thank goodness that the actors were decent enough to bring this story to life because if ATV were to rely on computers, this series would be bombed. Everything looks so fake. Even the background is fake. That is one of the reasons I enjoy TVB series more. No matter what scenery they're in, whether it's Hong Kong or Ancient China, it looks realistic. In MDWAV, the buildings look like shiny 3D animated buildings on a Transformers Beast Machines episode. The explosions were so fake and the part where Tien Yao tried to stop the airplane, well needless to say, it was sooooooo fake!

And last but not least, THE PLAGIARISM. I seriously do not know how no one can not help but notice it because it's so obvious!! Think about it! Vampires can transform and change the colour of their hair and become stronger when they get angry. What does that sound like to you? Well, for those of you who still can't figure it out, it's Dragon Ball Z. Tien Yao is like Goku. When Goku's best friend, Krillen, was killed by Frieza, the anger pushed him so much that he transformed into a Super-Saiyin.

And similar to that, when Jun Jun was killed by Tong Boon Jing, Tien Yao went crazy and transformed into a "Super Vampire". Another MDWAV/DragonBall similarity was the rivalry between Tien Yao and Seto Fun Yun which is similar to Goku and Vegeta. Thank God the producers of ATV didn't rip off the "Arrrrrgggggg!" for their transformations, otherwise it would've pissed a lot of people off like crazy. Also, what's up with the monster transformations with Tien Yao and Jurng Sun during their final battle? It's an obvious rip off from Mortal Combat.

Overall, this series is good to watch if you want action or creativity. I rate it a 3 3/4 stars out of 5.

I saw an interview that Eric Wan had with Sing Tao weekly and he told them about the possibilities of a My Date With A Vampire 3.
