ATV's attempt in making a ghost-love related series turns out to be quite successful. "Project JiXiang" is definitely better than TVB's "Seven Sisters", "A Loving Spirit"..etc. The series has a good pace and the storyline is very interesting. This series is not like a super scary, breath-taking series, but it will send chills up your spine once in a while.

Brief Summary:

Kenneth Chan was adopted by a man (Jason Lau) ever since he was born from his mom's coffin. Though Jason is not his real dad, their relationship is close. Kenneth is blessed with the ability to see the future. As the story progress, he has to face the truth behind his parents' deaths. With his ability to foreshadow and with the help of his friends, he is putting his life in danger to find the real murderer. However, when he found out who the murderer is--we wonder if it is always good to know the truth? Will there be consequences to all of your actions?

Opinions on Story & Solution

The story is certainly catchy, especially when ghosts are the topic. I wouldn't say the plot is very original; but I can say that it's not a copycat from other productions. The main character is set to find out the murderer of his parents'. That doesn't sound original, however, when they add frightening events and ghosts in it then it becomes interesting.

Throughout the series I enjoyed it a lot and watched it closely. My main complaint is Wallis Pang's ending. It's actually a happy ending but happy endings aren't always satisfying. I really love the ending though; it's an open-ended solution so it's up to you to decide. Maybe there will be a sequel to this "incomplete ending."

Opinions on the Cast:

Kenneth Chan - Kenneth has been acting as long as I can remember. He definitely deserve to be the lead, which I think he quite well. The good thing is that he looks compatible with both Joey and Wallis. Kenneth's character is very likeable and his life is plain interesting.

Wallis Pang - Wallis did an okay job portraying a rich, independent girl. She's fits in this role; she does appear to have that rich look. Her character in the beginning is so cute and carefree. She is also very hilarious when she is working in the same place with Kenneth. When she experience all the "frightening" things, you can't help but laugh at her movements and facial expressions.

Joey Meng - Joey plays a cop who is also very independent since her dad abandoned her and her sister when they were little. It sucks to be abandoned, but it's even worse when your dad returns, you forgive him, and then you found out he had committed a serious crime in the past. Joey to me is very cute with her babyish look, though I prefer Wallis over her.

Choi Kam Phung - I have seen him in so many other ATV series. He is a versatile actor, so it's no surprise he played a villain so convincing in here. I thought his ending was rather boring. I mean he deserves it, but they could have made it scarier or such creative ideas.

My Final Comments

"Project JiXiang" is something you can't miss, with a great cast and an excellent story involving fate and consequence. I highly recommend this series if you are willing to watch a few draggy, boring parts. Otherwise, rent it and enjoy a few shiver.
