CCTV's adaptation of Jin Yong's "Tian Long Ba Bu" novel features stunning sceneries and some very good martial arts choreography. Jimmy Lin plays the carefree Duan Yu, Hu Jun as the tragic hero Qiao Feng, Gao Hu as Xu Zhu, and the newly spotted young Liu Yi Fei as Wang Yuyan. PLOT SYNOPSIS "The Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils", also known as "Tian Long Ba Bu", is basically about the interactions of three men, all with some sort of special talent in kung-fu. The first of these three personas is Qiao Feng, who later becomes Xiao Feng. The Qiao Feng we first meet is the leader of the "Gai Bang" or Beggar's Clan. His reputation is excellent, with the common saying, "In the North, there is Qiao Feng; in...
Add a Review read moreOk, most of you are familiar with the storyline, so I won't go into too much detail. Basically the story follows the three main characters Xiao Feng, Duan Yu and Xu Zhu. Casting: Xiao Feng - Rating 8.5/10 Hu Jun did a good job in this series. He looked the part and had the build and stature for Xiao Feng. It's hard to say which Xiao Feng is better between him and Felix, but I think that...

I love episode 32!!! ^__^ I loved the fact that all the women (but a few) knew kung fu. I despised Christy Chung's character but she portrayed Madam Ma very well. Crystal Liu's performance as you can tell was beginner's acting but hey, she got the role of Dragon Girl so she's definitely going places. The Tian Shan Tong Lao story is my favorite story of all, hence the Maidens of Heavenly Mountain film =] though not true to the storyline.

This is an okay series. Storyline was not that strong and some of the plot was quite weak. I would give it a 3 stars. The acting was okay, some better than others. Overall production was good.

The actor who played Xiao Feng is really convincing, although he's not so handsome but he's the highlight of this version. I could feel he relived the character of Xiao Feng, felt the emotion he brought from grieve, angry, confused, and his charisma as a leader of the sect, even when Ah Zhu disguised as Xiao Feng, the actor showed rare expression because it's Ah Zhu, not Xiao Feng. The story telling was captivating from the beginning, but then become weak and too long in last parts especially about Ah Zhi and Xu Zhu. For the ones who never read the novel, the ending was so harsh and left some unanswered questions.
