Plot (3/5)
I was pretty disappointed with the plot. The main idea of LOCH is
about Huang Rong and Guo Jing. I felt however, that the plot was
focused more on Yang Kang and Mu Nian Ci. They wasted too much time on
the two and in the end,had to squish the events into one episode.
Also, there were too many flashbacks. In my opinion, they should take
one episode away from Yang Kang and Mu Nian Ci and put it on Guo
Jing's childhood. They also changed many events, like how Yang Kang
died. Yang Kang's death was supposed to be a big influence over Yang
Guo.So if Yang Kang was killed by Ouyang Feng, how is Yang Guo
supposed to become a great? If Yang Guo didn't learn the toad stance,
how would he be banished and meet Xiao Long Nu?
Characters
Hu Ge as Guo Jing (5/5)
I was very impressed with Hu Ge's performance. He brings out the
stupidness of Guo Jing as well as the caring side.
I was very touched by the moments he spent with Huang Rong.
You can tell that he is a naive and simple person just by
looking at him. I am defintely pleased.
Ariel Lin as Huang Rong (5/5)
Best Huang Rong I've seen. She is crafty and witty, just like she is
supposed to. You can't tell she's acting, it feels like she really
exists. I was at first bit worried after seeing "It started with a
kiss." Ariel Lin's acting in that one was just horrible. I have to say
though, I'm not dissapointed in LOCH.
Yuan Hong as Wanyang/Yang Kang (3/5)
I'm not impressed with this one, but maybe that's because of the
script. Wanyang Kang didn't seem evil too me, and Guo Jing kept
supporting him. Guo Jing was supposed to hate him in the end, but that
didn't seem to happen. During the whole time, all I seen him do was
love Mu Nian Ci, or burn with jealousy over Guo Jing. He seemedpretty
useless.
Liu Shi Shi as Mu Nian Ci (2/5)
Very horrible character. She's pretty good at acting, but the
scripttotally messed her up. Mu Nian Ci didn't seem to love Yang Kang,
but just get mad at him all the time. I don't see the atmosphere
between the two. At first she was ok, but after a while, I got so
bored. She always believes Yang Kang too, which is pretty annoying.
Li Jie as Ouyang Ke (5/5)
I absolutely love this character. He did a very good job as a clever
man and as a poor person yearning for a father's love.I felt sorryfor
him, because even though he was crafty on the outside, he was a very
sad person on the outside. All he ever wanted was to acknowledge his
father, but his father refused. The few precious moments he spent
would be destroyed by an argument 5 minutes later.
Guo Liang as Wanyan Honglie (5/5)
Terrific job, well done. Guo Liang displays his courageous side as
well as his loving side for Bao Xiruo. I could feel his feelings, that
all he wants is to be with Xiruo. I don't really blame him for the
attack on Niu Village. I felt sorry for him when he was killed by Yang
Kang.
Kathy Chow as Bao Xiruo (4.5/5)
Another job well done. The only reason why she didn't receive the .5
is because of her love for Wanyan Honglie. Being his wife and all,she
should have cared more.
Wang Jia Ming as Yang Tiexin (4/5)
He did a pretty good job. However, you could tell he was acting and it
didn't feel as if he really loved Xiruo. Still, he did a pretty good
job.
Anthony Wong as Huang Yaoshi (3.5/5)
Anthony was quick to show his evil and strange side as well as his
loving side for Huang Rong. That I give, a 5. However, he seemed a
little too friendly to Guo Jing. From what I know, Huang Yao Shi still
didn't appreciate Guo Jing after he married Huang Rong. He'd try to
avoid Guo Jing at all cost.
Bryan Leung as Hong Qigong (5/5)
He is one of my favorite character. I had high hopes for him
anyway, since I knew he had done a lot of characters who knew 18
subduing dragon palms.
Tsui Kam Kong as Ouyang Feng (3/5)
This character felt like a robot to me. He'd never show his feeling,
but instead just sit there. I was expecting a lot from him after
seeing the other movies he acted in. I am dissapointed.
Kong Yi Shan as Mei Chaofeng (5/5)
Also a very good actor, she brought out the evil and hungry power side
as well as the heartbroken side. Most of the time you see her killing,
but occasionally you feel her pain for her husband
Xie Na as Hua Zheng (3/5)
She didn't do anything. All she did was create trouble for Guo Jing
and Huang Rong and complain.
Jiang Nan Qi Guai (5/5)
I understood there care for Guo Jing, and was specially impressed by
the seventh master. She always helped Guo Jing, and protect from his
other masters when they got mad.
Li Yu as Zhou Botong (5/5)
He was pretty good, jumping and running around like a little kid.I
have to say, he was adorable for an old man.
Conclusion
I do not really like the plot, but I was impressed by the
actors/actresses that played the parts. Four stars for me.
