Gillian Chung Gillian Chung was born in Hong Kong in January 1981 and is an actress and singer most famous as one half of the Cantopop duo Twins. She grew up in Hong Kong with her mother following her father’s death. After her school days she worked part time for modeling agencies and in 2000, one of them told her about an opportunity with Emperor Entertainment Group (EEG). She accepted a job offer from EEG and a year later the pop group Twins was formed. The group have had much success in Hong Kong and China and released around 20 albums. Gillian has also had acting success and since her film debut in 2002, she has starred in a number of movies and TV series. These include Beyond Our Ken for which she was nominated Best Actress at the Gam Zhi Ging Awards. Her career, however, has been blighted by scandal. In 2006 a reporter took pictures of her in a changing room during a Twins concert and these were published in a magazine. Also, in 2008 explicit photos of Edison Chen with a number of actresses were published online and Chung was caught up in this. Following the second scandal she withdrew from public life for over a year, although she has since returned to work.
