Biography
Inoue Mao is a popular Japanese actress, born in 1987 and probably best known for her roles in Kids War, in 1999, and for playing Makino Tsukushi in the 2005 Japanese television production of Hana Yori Dango and its sequel. Inoue was a child star, appearing in Japanese series since 1992 and growing into the role of a junior idol as she pursued her education at Meiji University (theatre major). Her first brush with real fame came in 1999 with the character Imai Akane in Kids War, leading to its many sequels and to her starring role in Hana Yori Dango. As the main center of the story, Makino the diligent working-class girl who is taunted and socially victimized by the rich-kid Flower Four gang before she ultimately turns the tables, Inoue consolidated her national and international stardom. This in turn has resulted in a sequel and one of her five films -- so far.
