Foreword This is Bae Yong Jun’s drama after he leaves the small screen for 5 years. How does he fare in this Korean version of ‘Lord of the rings’? It is not easy to be The Su Shen king. The rain god can sense his sorrow, the fire phoenix shares his passion, the white tiger represents his pure bravery while the green dragon is his icy benevolence. He has to touch their hearts in order to get them submit to him...

Cast: Bae Yong Jun: Damdeuk/ Hwanung Moon So Ri: Giha/ Gajin Lee Ji Ah: Sujini/ Seo Warning! Spoilers Review! Synopsis: I was yet again hooked by another Korean drama. I was so amazed by the first episode and its visual effects that I couldn't wait to finish it. It was not purely drama and has a fantasy element in it which made it more interesting to watch. The story basically revolved around the legend of Hwanung, the son of God, who came to earth to live...

I also love this series very much! Havent seen BYJ for so long after Winter Sonata and im impressed with the way he acted the role of the Jooshin king!

Like the others i prefer the Kiha for Damduk. Their love started since they were young and Kiha has always been there for him. She has guided and nurtured Damduk to be strong and capable so he could defend himself when the time comes becomes she knows that the sorcerer wanted to destroy him. Kiha wanted nothing else but to be with Damduk. They wanted to forsake everything to be together but alas the King did the unforgivable so Damduk would hate Kiha and separate from her. I hated the King for doing this. I cried during this scene. The king wanted forgiveness from Kiha before he died but what he did became the catalyst for the two tragic lovers to be torn apart. I guess it was meant to be but still my heart is broken for Kiha. And i wanted to strangle Damduk for not believing her from the start. Many times he has wronged her but she remained loyal to him. Im glad that in the end Damduk has learned the truth and has chosen to die with her. Otherwise i would go ballistic for the unfairness of it all! LOL!!!

Overall it is a very good drama! And highly recommended to all!

This was the first korean drama i've ever watched, and I absolutely love it, but i find it so sad!! Like, just as "cucphuong tran" had said earlier, i felt very sorry for Kiha. Many people could argue that Kiha's relationship with Damdeok wasn't meant to be, because Kiha was a spy of the Hwacheon, but whilst Kiha was meant to spy on Hogae, she fell in love with Damdeok instead, which was not part of the plan. Overall, I think that Damdeok had always loved Kiha more than he loved Sujini, and Sujini is more of a friend to him, as the drama always shows him pining over her in later episodes even after their breakup.
What I don't understand is why Kiha did not tell Damdeok the truth about how his father committed suicide, instead of just taking the blame! AT least even if he had no choice but to become the Joo Shin king, they could have still maintained a relationship if Kiha had told him the truth.
I prefered her to Sujini, as she has a quiet shy nature which I can relate to.

At the end, what happened to Damdeok? Did he die? Did Kiha die? Damdeok didn't kill her, so it's strange that she must've died. And the other guardians?

In the drama they always mention the afterlife, like Kiha said she would like to fall in love with Hogae in the next life, and Sujini would like to be Damdeok's proper woman in the next life. However, because Kiha and Damdeok's love was strong but unachievable, I choose to believe that they will live a happy life together in the next life.

the ending was quite frustrating but overall the drama was good and gives a good lesson towards greediness...some parts i find it romantic especially the part where damdeok ran after with sujini and got reunited again after along time of being apart...BYM and Lee Jin Ah really looks cute together...i'm hoping someday they will be paired up again in a tv series...more power

christmas break i mean... see im unhappy with the ending that 5 hours later, im (trying) to write here... not getting enough sleep, as i want to know how others interpret this drama..

didnt realise that this drama lasted nearly 2 years to film..and i guess it got a lot attention when Bae was threatening to sue journalists if they ever write anything about him and Lee being romantically involved... Lee reminds me of Moonlight REsonance/ Heart of Greed actress... i forgot the name, but they sure look similar.. and so young..

i finish the drama during the christ break of 2008 - in 2 days!!...as with everyone I was looking forward for more scene between Bae and Lee, but was diassapoined... they both look wonderful together in the first episode, but towards the 23 episodes later, you wouldnt even know if they would end up together or not!

too many fighting scenes.. what was that for (got bored with it atually, drama probably could be cut to less an episodes if they reduce the fighting/warring/killing scenes) and have a better ending... maybe if they didnt have much of the warring filming, Bae wouldnt be injured much and maybe the ending would have been better!! heheh... im seriously mad with the ending... i spent 24 hours marathon on this drama... my friends warned me of the ending, but i choose to ignore it

so in the end, Dam Duk still loves Kiha?? ... not Sujini??? this is way different from what the 1st episode said and the last episode implied.... maybe scriptwriter forgot what the 1st episode history...

i get that Kiha was wronged many times, but still... 8 years pass.... what does it mean when Dam Duk breaks the bow and said that he will protect the woman??? the woman being Kiha and not Sujini??

i didnt agree that Bae and Lee won the MBC couple award, since there are barely any romantic scene between them... Coffee Prince should have gotten it rather than this one..
