A Moment of Romance

When watching this movie, it was for sure a "moment of romance". I watched this when I was four or five and loved it. I recently re-watched it and fell in love with the movie all over again. The story talks about star-crossed lovers.

Wah Dee (WD) is a member of a triad group. After a robbery goes seriously wrong, WD takes Jo Jo (JJ) hostage. Trumpet, another member of the triad, wants JJ dead because she knows too much. However, WD stands up for her, telling Trumpet that JJ is innocent and that if anything were to happen, it would be his fault.

The police take WD away for the kidnapping and robbery. When JJ goes to the police lineup, WD finds out that she is the daughter of a very rich family. JJ does not give away Trumpet or WD, but Trumpet’s men come after her. After trying to stop JJ’s murder by Trumpet’s men, WD is wounded and he tells JJ to stay away.

JJ is intrigued by this person who has saved her not once but twice. She finds WD and he takes her to a racetrack. There he races with another man. Just after WD wins the race, JJ tells him she was looking for him because it was (? Not sure whose birthday) birthday. By this time both have feelings for each other, WD falling in love with her because of sweetness, and the fact that she too cares for him.

There is a triad war going on and WD is right in the thick of things. After getting injured, JJ nurses him back to health. It is at that time the two are just carefree lovers. A detective that has wanted WD from the beginning informs him that JJ’s parents have filed a kidnapping report. WD, not wanting to get in trouble, takes JJ back to her parents. JJ’s parents want JJ to go to Canada for school, and order the police to take WD away.

After being let go by the police, JJ leaves WD a note telling him she was leaving for Canada. The triad war is in full blast after Trumpet murdered the leader of the triad group. As the war rages on, Trumpet smashes a tank on WD’s head, which causes him to have continuous nosebleeds.

As JJ hears the WD motorcycle, she runs to find him. WD finds Trumpet and goes after him. WD was drunk so he could not kill Trumpet. But WD’s best friends succeed in Trumpet’s murder. Nevertheless, before Trumpet dies, he kills WD. Then JJ runs throughout the streets looking for WD, falling and tripping, but never able to find him.

Acting - The actors did a excellent job. Even to this day, after first seeing it many years ago, I still am convinced these actors are the characters. I have seen Andy in many series and movies but he did an excellent job. He was WD! He played the character so well you truly got sucked in by the great acting.

Chemistry - Andy and Wu Chan Lien were the perfect couple. I have seen her with a couple of other guys but the chemistry between her and Andy was noticeable. The two looked and acted with their expressions like they were actually in love.

Music - The theme song to this series was wonderful. The soundtrack is perfect for the movie. The movie was a tearjerker and the music was too. The music fit perfectly with the movie. It expressed a lot through the music.

Overall - The best movie I have ever seen. A excellent movie, there is no doubt about it!
