Plot
Ah Sing is a man who is... well, quite poor. He makes a living out of collecting cans and selling them. When he meets Ah Mui, a girl who works at a restaurant, his life changes from there. He makes a new friend, and he meets a retired soccer player on the way. That retired soccer player becomes his coach, and they form a Shaolin Soccer team to win the cup, and to beat an old "friend" of his coach. The play for the cup begins there...
Review
This is the funniest movie I've seen yet. Stephen Chow was the director of this movie, and I think it was great! The cast was excellent, and the storyline was very funny. There were a lot of memorable scenes, which made the movie highly enjoyable.
Favourite and Least Favourite Scenes
Favourite Scene- When Stephen Chow and this old guy were singing. If you see it, you will know what I mean. Also, the last part where they were playing for the cup and the enemy goalie's clothes blew off from Vicki Zhao and Stephen Chow's amazing teamwork.
Least Favourite Scene - NONE. I enjoyed it all the way.
Character Performances
Stephen Chow as Ah Sing- I think he played this role really well. He was very funny, and he wasn't in the least shy to reveal his musical side. This was a perfect role for Stephen Chow, and I hope he continues to make more funny movies like this one!
Performance Rate: 5/5
Vicki Zhao as Ah Mui- She did not appear as much I had hoped in this movie, though she played her role very well as usual and delivered a great performance. If you do not like to watch Vicki Zhao as an "ugly duckling" I wouldn't recommend you watch this movie! But I must say, Vicki as a bald goalie is very cute! I loved her in this movie, and she even spoke a little Cantonese. She had a very cute accent in the movie.
Performance Rate: 5/5
Something to Notice
Did you notice that the goalie for Ah Sing's team looks like Bruce Lee? And acts like him, too? Well, in the beginning, he doesn't look like Bruce Lee. When he wears the goalie yellow suit, he looks a lot like him.
Final Words
Buy this movie on VCD or DVD... anyway, it's great and worth buying. If not, you can wait all year long for it to come on television. I'd consider this one of the best movies of the year! Do not miss this movie!
