Sandara Park is a South Korean singer who was born in Busan on 12 November 1984. She is famous for being part of the girl group 2NE1 and has also had acting success in the Philippines. Park was born into a wealthy South Korean family although when she was eight her family ran into financial difficulties and moved to the Philippines to start a new business. Park spent the remainder of her youth growing up in the Philippines and while still attending school there she became involved in a talent show, known as Star Circle Quest. In the final of this she was first runner-up and the show launched her career in the Philippines where she starred in a number of movies and television shows including Can this be Love and Krystala. During this time she also commenced a singing career, releasing an album that sold many copies and went double platinum. At the age of 22 Park returned to South Korea and almost immediately signed with YG Entertainment becoming part of a newly formed girl group 2NE1. Their debut was highly anticipated as they had been giving much publicity in the run up to this and the group has since gone on to be highly successful in South Korea. Park currently continues her career with 2NE1.
