Synopsis A Step Into The Past is Hong Kong TVB Drama Production that aired to critical and mainstream acclaim back in 2001. The drama was also adapted from Huang Yi’s famous novel “Xun Qin Ji.” It tells the story of a modern man named Xiang Shaolong (LOUIS KOO) who had just lost his lady love Chun Ching (Sonija Kwok) to another guy at the altar. Feeling dejected, he agrees to a scientific experiment by getting into a time machine and going...

This new TVB series is very undetailed. The series was basically about the romance between a guy and his girlfriend whom he can't have and his romance with another girl in another world, when in fact the story should have been based more on the comparison of 'old world' and 'new world'. It should have focused more on the history of the country and not on the romance of Louis Koo. The story starts out...

I do not write this second review in order to pose a totally opposite view to spcnet's, but just want to present a little different point of view. I do not disagree with the first review in many important points. And thus, I will skip some point that already settled in the first one, including the synopses which I cannot do better. These days, I am normally a reader and a moviegoer. I must confess...

This new TVB series, although lacking in copious historical detail, will echo with those familiar with the period depicted and the political atmosphere of the day. It is best watched AFTER the viewer has seen a proper historical drama. The story starts out with a scene where Louis, a special agent with Hong Kong's equivalent of the Secret Service, sucessfully defuses a hostage situation. At the same time, the viewer is introduced into Louis's complicated love life, between Sonija and...

I saw this series in Thai so the name pronunciations will probably be different from the other reviews. This series has two parts and together has 64 episodes. Summary: Xiang Shaolong [Louis Koo] is a cop who lives in modern day Hong Kong. After stopping a madman from trying to blow up a museum, a group of scientists take Shaolong to their lab and show him a time machine. They tell him that they would like...

Warning! Some Spoilers! "A Step into the Past" is TVB's latest release of a period drama based on a novel by Huang Yi. First set in modern day Hong Kong, police agent, Hung Siu Lung (Louis Koo), is transported back into the past, three years before the ascension of the Chun King, who is often erroneously credited with building all of the Great Wall of China. Before I make my comments on this series, I...
