The story is about Louis Koo, a G4 police officer, who travels from the future back into the past during the time when China was still broken into 7 states. Louis wanted to travel back into time because he wanted to reunite with Sonija, his ex-girlfriend. It was because he had taken her for granted had not been ready to settle down with her. She ended up marry another guy and he wanted to travel back into time to have another chance with her. He decides to take the opportunity to travel back, but during this process, the machine backfired, causing him to arrive three years earlier then he was suppose to. He needed to take pictures of Minh Chanh, the first king to unite all the provinces into one kingdom.

Louis meets Joyce, an assassin who is fighting with another person. Joyce starts liking him. There are some hilarious scenes in the beginning showing how Louis adapts to life in the past. These include scenes where he goes to the restroom, eats with forks instead of his hand, and rides on the horse (pretending it’s a car).

You begin seeing Jessica's attitude towards Louis change. She begins to grow fond of him, making Kong Wah jealous. But she runs away from home because she finds out that Louis has never really liked her. Louis makes her think that he is with Joyce, but because of this she wanders around on her own. While she is wandering around she sees Kong Wah and helps him out; but he doesn’t repay her kindness and lets his si fu take advantage of her.

Louis sees Sonija again, helps her out and tries to spend more time with her. He eventually wins her love and she helps him find a way to return to the future, but he gives up the chance to return back to the future just to be with her. At around this time, Jessica and Joyce pretend to be husband and wife to smuggle onto a boat. But the lady in charge soon finds out that they’re both women. From then on Joyce and Jessica join the dance team.

While returning from buying supplies, Joyce and Jessica find a body floating face down on the water and both go to help him out. When they turn him over they realize that it is Louis. Jessica panics at once since she knows that it’s Louis. Louis sweet-talks Jessica back into his life.

Louis later finds out that Jessica got raped because of him and feels even guiltier. He chases after Jessica to keep her back. She ends up staying with Louis screaming to her “I love you” in English.

In the end, it is Raymond who becomes king and he goes after Louis. Louis tells Jessica and Sonija to go on ahead first without him. But they figure that he is up to something and go back looking for him. Raymond comes and Louis is willing to die with him. Jessica and Sonija don't want to leave without him, saying that if he is going to stay and die, they will too. In the end, Raymond burns all the books that had anything to do with Louis...to make it seem as if he hadn't existed at all. there is a happy ending with Louis marrying both Jessica and Sonija, and spending time with his son.

Characters

Louis Koo – Han Thieu Long
I think Louis is the perfect person to play this role. He did an excellent job of doing so. He turned from someone who didn’t want to settle down to end up marrying two women. He deserved to win an award for this character.

Jessica Hsuan – On Dinh Phuong
Jessica as always did an excellent job. It’s just too bad that her role only appeared in the beginning and at the end. I felt that her role went through a lot of suffering to be with Louis. I don’t know if Louis ever really loves Jessica or whether he married her because he felt guilty that she was raped.

Sonija Kwok – Cam Thanh
Although I don’t like her, she did an okay job. She was willing to help Louis even though it could’ve meant that she might never see him again. I’d prefer Louis ends up with Jessica or Joyce.

Raymond Lam – Trieu Ban/Minh Chanh
Raymond did a really good job. In the beginning, Raymond was a troublemaker, but he becomes more of a gentleman with the help of Louis. Then he turns into a deceitful and cruel king.

Michelle Saram – Cong Chua
I thought her role in her was really pointless and that she couldn’t act at all. Louis only gave her a title as his wife is because he pitied her.

Although this series is good, I still think that Louis should’ve ended up with Joyce since she sacrificed so much for him. But then again, he didn’t like her so he’d be marrying her out of pity.

    Favorite Scene
  1. Louis and Jessica playing soccer and Jessica jumps up and down on Louis’ butt.

  2. Louis, Jessica, Kong Wah, and another guy eating, Louis carves a fork to eat with.

  3. Louis dances with Jessica on the boat.

  4. Basically any scene with Jessica and Louis.
