Plot

Michael used to belong to Shanghai's best gang that robbed and fought to gain control. When he got married, he decided to quit that job and settle down with his wife and daughter. However, Eddie, who is his “Big Brother” in the crime business, did not want him to leave. Michael finally agreed to do one more job for Eddie and leave the business for good. The last job was for him to go rob a bank. During the chaos, he killed one of the workers (he thought the banker was a traitor). Meanwhile, Michael's wife is run over by a car. Michael becomes so upset that he decides to retire and open a restaurant with his daughter and fellow retired friends.

Bosco comes back to Shanghai after being released from prison to look for his “big brother”/ savior, Michael. He eventually falls in love with Shirley (Michael's daughter) who at first only likes Power but later falls for Bosco too.

Anne comes to Shanghai looking for her husband, unaware that he was killed by Michael. She ends up living with Michael and helps him out. Their friendship soon blossoms into shy love, but the love started to die when she found out Michael killed her husband.

Performances

Michael Mui
Excellent. As a veteran I didn't expect anything less of an excellent performance. I love the way his face makes you feel what his character feels at the time. He has one of those facial expressions that just jumps out and grabs you. I like his character too; he has a soft side that he hides behind his mean side because of his grief. 5/5

Bosco Wong
I was expecting him to be the comic relief, like most of his other series but he was more serious in this one. I love the way he was always making Shirley happy but let Power take the credit. It was so sweet. I prefer the funny Bosco over the serious one because he just looks more natural to me, but it is nice to see some change from him. 4.5/5

Anne Heung
I've noticed that she has been receiving lots of supporting roles lately and this is her first lead in a while. I found her a little stiff in some scenes. It looked like she wasn't even trying to look sad in her crying scenes. She could use some improvement. Her character is the nice woman that has lots of friends but with her portrayal of that character she looked so stiff. It looks unnatural so it makes me wonder if she's a nice person in real life, because she didn't make me sympathize with her. 3/5

Shirley Yeung
I do not like Shirley for some reason. I mean, all her characters are the good girls/ main characters that make people like them but I do not like her. Maybe I just don't like her personally. I found Man-Wah so annoying! I fast forward most of her scenes alone. Her crying sucks too, I could not see any tears when she was “crying”. 3/5

Power Chan
He is once again the bad guy. He does his typical evil guy things. If you have seen Power Chan in non-ancient series and he is the bad guy then that's the characteristics he has. He is always the same as the villains.

Derek Kwok
He is a good guy! Wow, one of the few times he is a good guy. Even though I do like him better in LWOAP his character here is pretty decent. He's nice and determined which are the makings of a good guy as always.

Eddie Koo
He is so annoying! He should leave Michael alone! Get a life man. He did a good job in my opinion because he made me hate the character and a good actor is supposed to make you hate the villain.
