Following the "Journey to the West" (JTTW) fever, I decide to write reviews for any JTTW series that I have watched so far. I should forewarn the readers that this review is written with a rather serious and different perspective than those from the norms. Dicky Cheung did play the monkey king in this series. The sequel to this series, which continues their journey, had Dicky Cheung replaced by Benny Chan.
Later in 2004 or 2005, Dicky reappeared as Monkey King in a new nonsensical JTTW that featured Twins (Gillian Chung and Charlene Choi) as well.

Dicky was fantastic in JTTW1 while Benny was a real disappointment in the sequel. hoever, i think the first part was the best series ever!!
