Lady Fan

I have just finished watching Lady Fan. The series didn't really leave a significant mark in my heart. Usually when I finish watching a very good series, I would keep on thinking about it for a few days. But, for this one, I didn't really spend a lot of time thinking about it after watching it. I am not saying that it's not a good series. I am saying that it's an "okay" series.

First of all, I am sorry for all the Jessica Hsuan fans out there... but the series focused too much on Jessica. I thought it was kind of annoying sometimes. I am not against Jessica or anything like that but she seemed to have the same reaction in most of her series. Her gestures were the same, her lip movements were the same, and her attitudes were the same. She tried to be tough in the series, but she didn't have to always have a straight face. She never smiled! How she acted in here was very similar to her character in "Square Pegs." I am not sure if it's me or it's her character... in every single series, she seemed to always look down at the ground when she walked. She was supposed to be good at fighting and tried to prevent war between her side and Joe Ma's side, but she seemed to be a housewife sometimes. She didn't look good with the army uniforms.

The chemistry between her and Joe was not sparkling. I didn't see any chemistry between them at all. I thought that Joe looked good with Kenix in Viligante Force. To me, personally, I thought he was a loser in this series. He seemed to be a very stupid guy. Jessica loved him and even though he loved her back, he always had doubts about Jessica. He never believed her and sometimes he treated her in a wrong way. He was also annoying sometimes.

I thought that Mimi Lo was very cute. I think she should switch roles with Cindy Au to be with Power Chan because they looked cute together in this series (when they were together arguing - they didn't like each other in this series). TVB should give her more opportunities to be able to show what she could do. The friendship between her and Jessica was weird, though. At first, she hated Jessica because Jessica forced Joe to marry her, and Mimi didn't like it because she had feelings for Joe. However, after Jessica helped her get rid of the scar on her face, she liked her right away and became her friend. From that point on, she always stood up for Jessica and always took Jessica's side. I thought it was a rather quick change of heart. How could a person change his/her point of view in such a flash? That was kind of odd for me.

Power Chan did a good job in this series. I think he should be in more series. Cindy Au needed some improvement on her acting skills. I thought she was kind of stiff sometimes. Power and Cindy have no chemistry between them.

I think that TVB needs to take a look at how they pair up the characters.

If you are a die-hard Jessica fan, then you should and must rent this series. Other than that, I recommend those who don't want to waste money on this one to just download it online and watch it. If you don't like doing illegal stuff, then just go rent it and give it a try.
