The Storyline ***Spoilers***
This series is about the PNC (Police Negotiation Cadre). The story concentrates on four officers who are part of PNC. The story starts out with the PNC needing new recruits to lower the workload of the present members of PNC. They need a lot of recruits so it's decided that this year will be the first time that patrol constables (PC) can apply. Pang Sir (Bobby) and Kit (Kenix) are in charge of the recruiting process and training. Yeung Gwong (Chilam) meets Pang Sir and Kit after he talks a person out of committing suicide. He tells Kit how much he's heard of them and how he would love to be in the PNC. Kit and Pang Sir put together a meeting for some of the PCs to tell them that they can register to be a PNC if they like. Kit sees Yeung Gwong there and he is basically forced into signing up (in reality he doesn't want to be in the PNC because he loves to play and that would take away his play time).
On his way to the PNC interview he runs into Yip Hoa Yun. (She really wants to be part of PNC so that she can make more money and be promoted faster). They both pass the requirements to get in even though Yeung Gwong tries to fail. They are sent to police school to train for two weeks before they can be officially accepted into PNC. Yeung Gwong decides that he will do everything to fail and get kicked out. While Hoa Yun studies like crazy to pass because she is prone to failure. By the end of the two weeks Yeung Gwong and Hoa Yun are two out of the ten who pass and become part of PNC. I don't want to ruin the series so the rest of the storyline is for you to find out.
Review
The Good
I picked this series because I like to watch cop series. Even though there is a very minimum amount of action it still has a storyline. You might find it weird that I really liked this series, but the next paragraph about the bad parts is longer than the good part. That's because I don't really analyze the acting (if it's good then it's good that's the end of it). The best part of the series would have to be when Bobby's wife leaves him and all the horrible stuff happens to him because I really dislike his character before everything bad happens (and I think he deserves it). I think that all in all this was a really good series. I enjoyed it very much and could never wait for the next tape to come out.
The Bad
Like I said above I really liked this series so there isn't much that I didn't like. The exception would be Bobby's character and the ending. First of all what bothered me most about Bobby's character is that he's a male chauvinist. He thinks that it's never his problem and that the guy is the boss of the family and that the women shouldn't be aloud to make decisions. He always yells at everybody because they don't have the same life style or same thinking as him. You just really get to dislike him. Although he does realize his faults further into the series he still got on my nerves. And I think that he got what was coming to him. Secondly like most TVB series the ending was way too fast. The show skips forward and next thing you know Annie and Chilam are getting married and you haven't even seen them getting together or dating. TVB takes all that time to elaborate on the story and then they end it in 1-1 chapters. It just happened all too fast.
The Couples
Bobby and Kenix
I thought that this was an interesting match because Pang Sir and Kit are totally different. Pang Sir is a male chauvinist with a big ego who thinks that women should stay at home and cook. Kit always argues with her father because she hates his chauvinistic attitude and has a very strong will to be independent. So it's interesting to find out how they get the characters to connect.
Chilam and Annie
Although their relationship during the whole series never really developed past friendship, I thought that they went really well together. I really think that they should have elaborated more on the two characters before they rushed through to the end and they got married.
Final word
I would recommend this series to anyone who is looking for a good TVB series.
