Cast Julian Cheung as Guo Jing Athena Chu as Huang Rong Gallen Lo as Yang Kang Emily Kwan as Mu Nian Ci Introduction This adaptation to Jing Yong's Condor Trilogy is not that bad, although compared to TVB's 1982 adaptation of "Legend of the Condor Heroes" (LOCH), it falls a bit short. The 1982 version, starring Felix Wong and Barbara Yung, is embedded into viewers' eyes. No matter if this series portrayed the characters to perfection or not, the performance...

Legend of Condor Heroes 1994 was not very popular with the Hong Kong audience when it came out. In fact, the entire show had gotten a seriously bad rap because it was constantly measured up to (and constantly come up short to) the 1983 TVB classic. However, this show when viewed on its own, is a very good show with a good cast and a can't lose plot. The show stars...

Original Title (by the book): The Eagle-Shooting Heroes Genre: Typical Jin Yong Martial Arts Novel MAIN CASTS: Julian Cheung as Guo Jing Athena Chu as Huang Rong PROLOGUE: This is the first story of the Condor Trilogy written by Jin Yong. I've written a review on the second story, which is The Return of the Condor Heroes (ROCH) 95. This serial seems to be the shadow of its 1982 version. Comparisons are always thrown and Legend of...

I must say after watching this HK series recently that drives me to chase the 1995 HK version of Return of the Condor Heroes.

I must say even though at that time there is no scientific and graphic images to help to boost the scenes, but the old series is so good. I like Chi Lam and Athena Chu as they are not only compatible but also great in acting their role.

I like how this version has fast-paced plot while stay true to the novel. Fighting scenes are quite good. Athena Chu is enjoyable as Huang Rong, even though her gestures is still influenced by Barbara Yung, but much better than 2003 version of Huang Rong. Huang Rong and Guo Jing's chemistry is somewhat better than 1983 since they put important dialogue from the novel that 1983 didn't have. The only thing I didn't like is the supporting characters cast like Mu Nianci, Zhou BoTong, Huang Yao She.. most of them are not good enough compare to 1983.

Agree with "friends"! This is the best version. Julian and Athena were the perfect pair for this series, they had great chemistry.

I love this TVB series the most, esp. Julian and Athena. They made a very lovely and beautiful pair. Julian played his best at Huo Jing with the innocent love for Huang Rong. It's unfair to compair this series with those of 1983 because Julian and Athena did their best through out the stories. Athena looks very very cute as an intelligent Huang Rong, and Julian looks so naive and has true love for Huang Rong. This 1994 series rank 4.5/5.

Being the closests portrayal to the novel is one thing, having the skills to convery the character is another. If people can't recognize Barbara Yung's amazing and natural talents, you don't know what real acting is. Athena was too plain and simple as HR. I didn't sense enough intelligence from her though I'll admit she was pretty cute. Overal, Athena as well as this version is just average. Nothing spectacular but not bad.
