Cast Julian Cheung as Guo Jing Athena Chu as Huang Rong Gallen Lo as Yang Kang Emily Kwan as Mu Nian Ci Introduction This adaptation to Jing Yong's Condor Trilogy is not that bad, although compared to TVB's 1982 adaptation of "Legend of the Condor Heroes" (LOCH), it falls a bit short. The 1982 version, starring Felix Wong and Barbara Yung, is embedded into viewers' eyes. No matter if this series portrayed the characters to perfection or not, the performance... read more

Legend of Condor Heroes 1994 was not very popular with the Hong Kong audience when it came out. In fact, the entire show had gotten a seriously bad rap because it was constantly measured up to (and constantly come up short to) the 1983 TVB classic. However, this show when viewed on its own, is a very good show with a good cast and a can't lose plot. The show stars... read more

I love this TVB series the most, esp. Julian and Athena. They made a very lovely and beautiful pair. Julian played his best at Huo Jing with the innocent love for Huang Rong. It's unfair to compair this series with those of 1983 because Julian and Athena did their best through out the stories. Athena looks very very cute as an intelligent Huang Rong, and Julian looks so naive and has true love for Huang Rong. This 1994 series rank 4.5/5.
Being the closests portrayal to the novel is one thing, having the skills to convery the character is another. If people can't recognize Barbara Yung's amazing and natural talents, you don't know what real acting is. Athena was too plain and simple as HR. I didn't sense enough intelligence from her though I'll admit she was pretty cute. Overal, Athena as well as this version is just average. Nothing spectacular but not bad.
For die-hard Jin Yong fans, this is the version to get. I always cringe when people say Barbara Yung's portrayal of Huang Rong is the best. If you've read the novel, she's no where near how the novel depicts the character's beauty (no offense to the actress); even Michelle Yim portrayed a better Huang Rong in the 70's than she did. IMO, of all the versions, Athena is the closest to what is depicted in the novel.
I think this is the best version of this story. Julian and Athena were perfect in these 2 roles and the chemistry between them were so good. The supporting characters were good too.

Agree with "friends"! This is the best version. Julian and Athena were the perfect pair for this series, they had great chemistry.
