Character Descriptions

Lip Bo Yin/Pauline - She is a medical examiner who works in the Hong Kong Forensic Department. She can be described as a woman in the new millenium. Independent and intelligent are two words to describe this woman. She has a mother, a niece and an elder sister. Her father was a bomb expert but he died years earlier. She had an affair with a violinist in England during her studies but later broke up with him because he was married.

Tseng Ka Yuen - He works in the homicide department and often works with Bo Yin. He has a father, a stepmom and a younger brother. He lost his wife a couple of years ago because she hadcancer and since then he has not dated anyone. He is serious at solvingcases but relaxed at some points. He dated one of his fellow teammates which will lead him to lose someone he loved.

Choi Siu Tong/Siu Tong Choi - She is a tomboy and is one of Ka Yuen's teammates. She's a "good" girl and listens to her father a lot. She loves Ka Yuen but unfortunately, he does not love her as much as she does. In the end, she is forced to give up him.

Tseng Ka Kiu - He's Ka Yuen's brother. He is sensitive or you can call him a dork. However, he's a serious guy with a kind heart.

Lip Chun Chun - Rude. She's Bo Yin's niece.

Story

Lip Bo Yin is a medical examiner that examine corpses and determines the death cause. She is really serious when it comes to working on the corpses. Although she may look really serious, she has a relaxed side when it comes to family and friends. Her personal life, on the other hand, is not too good. She had an affair with a violinist in England but the man was married and his pregnant wife begged her to leave him. She decided not to be the third person and she left for Hong Kong.

Years later, Bo Yin meets Ka Yuen. At first, they are forever arguing until they realize that they can become friends. Time passes and Ka Yuen realizes that he has fallen in love with Bo Yin. The problems is that Ka Yuen's fellow teammate, Choi Siu Tong, has fallen in love with Ka Yuen. Ka Yuen and Bo Yin realize that their timing wasn't right so Ka Yuen decides to be with Siu Tong. At the same time, Bo Yin's ex-boyfriend who she dated in England comes back to Hong Kong with his son. His wife had died. Bo Yin and he get back together again. Although Ka Yuen is with Siu Tong, he still has feelings for Bo Yin. Bo Yin finds that her boyfriend lied to her about his wife. His wife is still alive. Later, her boyfriend and his son is killed and Bo Yin is suspected of killing them. However, the case is cleared at last. It was her boyfriend's assistant who killed her boyfriend. The son was killed by her boyfriend.

In the end, Bo Yin's other boyfriend is accused of killing four people. Ka Yuen was with one of the four on the same day and Ka Yuen wounded up in the hospital. To get his DNA, Bo Yin stabbed her other boyfriend and he as arrested. When Siu Tong found out what she did for Ka Yuen, she knew that she could never do what Bo Yin did. Bo Yin was placed on probation and she decided to leave Hong Kong. Siu Tong told Ka Yuen what Bo Yin did for him and he rushed to the airport, but he did not catch her.

Compare and Contrast
(You can say that they are alike in some ways.)

Bo Yin to Annie (Healing Hands)

(1) Serious. Bo Yin and Annie are both serious when it comes to work.
(2) Likes to give Bowie the cold shoulder. In UT, Bo Yin did give Ka Yuen the cold shoulder and she denied that she still has feelings for him. In HH, Annie...well, she didn't actually give Henry the cold shoulder.
(3) Has relationship problems. Who doesn't? But the only problem is that Ka Yuen is not a flirt like Henry. Anyway, I would choose Bo Yin over Annie. Why?
(4) Hardly goes to the bar. Hahaha, that's not true. It's mainly because of her personality. Bo Yin likes to keep everything to herself, while Annie talks to her friends about it.

Ka Yuen to Henry (Healing Hands)

Like I said, Ka Yuen isn't a flirt. He's 99% devoted to Bo Yin. He waited nine months for her to come back. Oops, that wasn't supposed to be there. Oh well. Anyway, the following reasons will tell you why I chose Ka Yuen over Henry.
(1) Does not show his love for Bo Yin. Well, at least not in front of Siu Tong.
(2) Knows not to flirt. Hahaha. That's true. I don't think he can flirt at all.
(3) Expert at solving cases. Duh, he's a cop.

Siu Tong to Tong Sum (DIF IV)

Is it just me or does she like to steal boyfriends? In UT, she stole Ka Yuen from Bo Yin. Well, you can't blame her for that since she assumed that Bo Yin and Ka Yuen weren't dating. In DIF IV, she stole Kong Chi San from Ah Man. There is a similar connection.

Point of View

In my point of view, I firmly believe that this series is a good example of psychology. What I mean is the psychology of the murderer. The murderers tend to kill someone by accident. Or you could say that the people who died deserved to be dead. Like Bo Yin's first boyfriend. He actually abused and killed his own son and threw him in the sea. He deserved to be killed. Also, I have to complain about Margaret Chung's character. She is too rude. I don't know why Ka Kiu would even like her. I still like her in DIF 3, where she played an understanding young cop.

Themesong

Edmond Leung sings the theme and I say it's fairly good. But I would prefer songs like DIF themes since they are all in the same category: cops. But the song was good enough to suit my expectations.
