Synopsis:

The cast list for "Yang's Saga" is not a mistake. TVB managed to create a cohesive story with many of its best actors and actresses of all time, either as leads or guest stars. "Yang's Saga" also gathers the 5 Tigers of the Golden 80's period - Andy Lau, Felix Wong, Miu Kiu Wai, Tony Leung, and Kent Tong together in the same drama for the first time. Taking place during the Northern Sung dynasty, the plot is about the seven young brothers of the Yang warrior family who will soon go off to war to fight the Liao invaders. Political machinations by the corrupt Prime Minister cause their demise and rang true the prophecy - "seven sons leave, one son returns". In the short span of 6 fast-paced episodes, you will still care for the characters as they meet their fall. Watch this especially for the charming performance from Tony Leung as the youngest and mischievous Yang Yin Ji. Leslie Cheung's themesong for this series is also a classic.

As much as I despise Wong Jing's tactic of bringing a hoardful of popular artists together in one series, I fell in love helplessly with this TVB series that used the similar technique. To be fair, this serial was produced as an anniversary series, thus very short in length and was basically the only fault that I could find with it. The detailed summary with spoiler can be found at Felix Wong's web site: http://lavender.fortunecity.com/stroheim/638/saga.html The...

Just finished this series! Loved it. It was so cool how everyone was able to be paired with their life partner:
(if you didn't know: the yang's saga was intended to be a special drama for the 5 tigers and they were focused on. Felix with Shallin, Tony with Margie (real couple then), Andy with Carina (i think they were a couple then), Michael with Jamie and Kent was the only couple without a female co-star. It was anticipated that he would be with barbara yung but ..... she died.)
(oh my GOSH!!! Jamie and Michael my fav couple in this film. love how in the end he goes back to jamie's country. how she died was romantic and how he carried her was epic!!!)

i think what caught my attention the most was seeing all the five tigers of TVB 80's in this drama along with some of the greatest actors within TVB at the time. i would have like to see Simon Yam as one of the Yangs or Poon brothers though. although it was very short it was fantastic because it was not too draggy.

I loved this series because it had a lot of cameos by a lot of the "popular" actors and actresses. I liked how everyone was on the same side for once. It got confusing because I kept forgetting who was who (I watched the Vietnamese versions) so all the surnames and given names got all mixed up. Also I think at one point the couples were getting all mixed up as well. Haha. That's one bad thing about casting all-star casts.

Overall it was a great series and had a great ending.
