She gives him one of her emerald necklaces, telling him the legend of the two emerald necklaces. After twists and turns they separate, Nian Zhong goes to live with his biological mother in Shanghai, Jia Qi and her mother go to England, after her stepdad tried to molest her, Nie Kai stays in Hainan. Nian Zhong also gets sent to England to study, where he meets Lin Pei Yu, who helps him, and later on, Jia Qi. They get together but are soon separated yet again, when Jia Qi and her mother leave to hide from her mother's gambling debts. Nian Zhong later learns that the taxi Jia Qi was in crashed, and in the accident she died. Devastated, he goes back to Hainan with Pei Yu, who had already fallen for Nian Zhong. Their relationship grows and he agrees to marry her, and he also finds that Jia Qi is alive, but her legs are paralysed. Many obstacles stand in their way, will they ever be able to get together?

Characters:
Nian Zhong: One of the most interesting characters, Wallace portrayed Nian Zhong very well.
When he laughed, when he cried, when he was serious, when he was joking around. When he was torn between two things. Wallace's eyes can display so much feeling, and he did the change from the innocent, naïve, a little geeky, I'm-from-the-countryside sort of style to the good-looking, powerful, smart businessman very well.
5/5

Jia Qi: Sometimes Sun Li's expressions could be varied, but what she displayed was very well done. She acted the tomboyish Muo Jia Qi, the quiet mature Jia Qi and the happy bubbly Jia Qi equally well. She cries well, they all do. There was good chemistry between her and Wallace, you could tell what they really felt for each other.
4.5/5

Nie Kai: Very cute at the start. In the middle you start to feel sorry for him. Sometimes he does things that make you think he's a bit too selfish. But in the end he was the only happy one. George Hu is also a good crier, the parts at the end when he was crying for Nian Zhong and when they were together, it was very sweet because you could tell they were very good friends.
4.5/5

Pei Yu: She was very nice throughout the whole thing, except for a few bits in the middle, but hey! You can't expect a person to be selfless all the time! She sacrificed so much, you really felt for her at the end. Again, Yvonne Yao is good at crying, and she played all her parts well.
4.5/5

Shi Jie: Wow. The first time I saw Jia Nai Liang was in Wu Shi Lang, where he played a cute innocent and king guy. So in here he really surprised me at how good he was at yelling. When he was angry, when he thought everything was unfair, when he was upset, the tears threatening to fall from his eyes, even when he was setting the house on fire or stabbing Nian Zhong, they were all very well acted and scary.
5/5

The Music:
Very nice, loved all three songs, they fitted perfectly.
5/5

Scenery:
What can I say? The beautiful beaches in Hainan, the buildings in London, the lights in Shanghai. Awesome scenery.
5/5

What I liked:
- Every part with Wallace in it! Haha. I love Wallace. He looked so hot in the green and black outfits, not to mention the tux.
- The scenery, music and of course, the acting!
- The beautifully developed characters.
- When they were in high school, it was cute.
- The whole thing!

What I didn't like:
- The overuse of flashbacks, I fast forwarded so much!
- The ending; too sad!
- Yvonne Yao, although pretty and a good actress, was too tall. When she wore really high heels, she was sometimes taller than Wallace! And made Sun Li seem puny. Looked bad onscreen.

Overall:
Beautiful series! I would've given it five out of five it weren't for the repetition of flashbacks. A must see! Especially if you're a Wallace fan! He looked so good in the series!
