Hua Mulan

This story is not too bad but it shows too many emotions!! I used to hate it, to tell you the truth. There are too many romances and love stories. Some say Hua should not be with "Zhao" but with "Vincent Jiao". I think Xu Yiren should not be with "Suen" but with "Qu". I find Marianne Chan and Wong Hei's "A Tough Side Of A Lady" more preferable.

Plot:
Like in the cartoon and "A Tough Side of a Lady", Hua Mulan (Yuen Wing Yi) replaces her dad in the army. Her mom hates her and only loves Hua Hu's only son, a spoilt brat. Hua is only known to be a girl by her secret admirers, Soo Jilly (Suen Hing) and Yu Chengen (Vincent Jiao). Li Liang (Zhao Wen Zhuo) is the most important man in Hua's life after Yu. Yu leaves Hua and she turns her attentions towards Li. When Li discovers the truth, they fall in love and get married. (BORING!! NOTHING ROMANTIC!!)

Li's mom (Cheng Puipui), hates Hua because she's like a male. She wants the most perfect woman, Xu Yiren (Dong Xiaoyan), to marry him. Soo and Xu forget about their loved ones and lead a different life.

The emperor persuades all generals--including Hua and Li to lead an army. With Soo's help, Hua finally succeeds in her task. However, the soldiers are lazy. Xu disguises as a male to join the army but is discovered by Hua. During that period, Soo helped Xu a lot with her social problems and she became indebted to him. However, she accidentally caused Hua to lose to Li and Soo was angry about it. She quit the army.

Hua wins the war. She cried because her soldiers were all wiped out except Liu Xiangzi (Qu), a fortune-teller. Qu gets along very well with Soo and happens to steal Xu's heart. Soo hates the part that Xu loves Li. He gets mad about it and when he tells Liu, Liu interpreted it as love towards Xu.

Too many love affairs. Xu wasn't eventually with Soo, who was in fact an angel. A cruel murderess called Zhuang Xiaoqian (Lau Zi) stole Li's mom's attention and Li's love. She evilly caused Soo's death and Xu's poisoning because they knew too much (CURIOSITY KILLS THE CAT). This is tragic. Hua moves out of the Lis, and on one event slap Xiaoqian. With the help of her mom, she saves Xu. (Hua's mom even took away some of Mulan's prizes from the Lis)

In the end, Hua exposes Xiaoqian's plans with the help of Liu Xiangzi and Xu Yiren. Xiaoqian deals her a blow and she dies, and Li kills Xiaoqian. Li's devotion towards Hua eventually brings them back to life, and they lead a happy life, bearing grandson-crazy Li's mom two children: a girl and a boy.
