I think it was talking about his sword improvement.
Never mind, it stated that his internal energy and sword art progressed little. However, I think I know why. If I am correct, it's because the torrent training of YG is a physical way to train internal energy, unlike 9 Yin which is meditation of that sort. Therefore, it is normal for YG to not achieve as much result after he got used to the torrent and became too strong for it. Therefore, that's the reason that his condor friend took him to the South Sea where the current was much stronger.
