You can check out the comic books by at www.comicsone.com
hope I am not posting duplicate post here.
If anyone is thinking of doing some translation, would you consider JY's xiekexing and GL's Fu Hung Suet, Yip Hoi, or Meteor, Sword, Butterfly stories?
thanks ahead.
Much appreciation to your kindness. :D
Would people mind if the Xiakexing was not translated word for word? I don't mind trying (if only for people to check if I got it right) and it will be good to test how well I actually read Chinese.
There were certain bits where I completely skipped because it was too deep for me (notably the bits where the book tried to explain a lot of Wugong technical functions)... but it seems like fun.
Ian
I'll tackle Bian Cheng Lang Zi (with Yip Hoi & Fu Hung Suet) when I'm done with Full Moon Curved Sabre.
Ian,
it would be great if you want to have a go for Xie. :D
I would love to know more of JY's lesser known stories such as white horse or yin-yang sabers.
Personally, I love reading a story that I have not seen a TV adaptation of.
It's kinda boring to read a translation of Xiao Ao Jiang Hu when you know what's gonna happen, after watching many times the TV series. Even though XAJH has a GREAT story, rereading it is boring. I tried to do that at first but in the end I'd rather read new and interesting stories like XLFD and S&E.
I think the list proposed by Goofy is very interesting. Although I have seen 1 adaptation of Fu Hung Suet's saga (the 2 part movie), I like the story a lot and it's definitely something that would interest other members here. Good pick Junny :)
Don't worry - The TV Xiakexing is nothing like the book. Most characters have the same names and relationships, and the general story is similar, but they're oh so different. :)
Ian
Can I add?
Would anyone please please please translate Wu lin Wu Shi/Mou Lam wai Shi.......Thank you:)
Eeh, I'm trying to translate that now, but it's taking me ages just to get through the first chapter and there's 50 something chapters. Umm...I'm also relatively new to this forum, as well as translating, so can someone please explain to me what I need to do to post things up/etc? I'll post up what I've done with the 1st chapter soon, but I think I'll have to go back and re-edit some bits.Quote:

I just type everything on Wordpad, then copy/paste it to the message board by clicking "reply". I'd use Word with all its spellchecking features, but I suspect there might be some formatting issues there.
Ian
Ah, wasn't precisely what I was meaning, but thanks anyway ^^
Erm... what exactly do you mean then, Luna Rainbow?
that is why I want to read it. Thanks Ian. :bow:Quote:

I have tried to translate GL's short stories from my language (Thai), but I have problem finding the right spelling for the characters'names since in my book, the names are in Cantonese pronunciation with Thai style accent...
Don't worry, I think I've figured it out ^^'' Sorry for the bother.Quote:

sorry if I sound a dunce but heard of these three stories but have no clue about them. :bang:
where is the thread 'the battle at Ming Cult' in HSDS? :help:
Erm... if you mean Meh's translation of the battle on Brightness Peak in HSDS, to my knowledge its here in the translation forum.
:sweating: found it now. Have looked for it earlier but couldn't see it. :D
I haven't read the first, actually. I only know that the sequel to Bian Cheng Lang Zi is Tian Ya Ming Yue Dao (End of the World, Bright Moon, Sabre) It is Fu Hung Suet's story. Far as I know, Meteor, Sword, Butterfly is a separate story, and Eagles Flying in September is Yip Hoi's story when he meets Shangguan Xiaoxian (Shangguan Jinhong's daughter).Quote:

Yup, there's no relation between Meteor, Butterfly, Sword to any of the Ye Kai/Fu HongXue/XLFD stories. It's probably often mentioned along with Tianya, Mingyue, Dao because the titles are similar (Liuxing, Hudie, Jian). I found the tone of Meteor equally as heavy as Tianya and I had fond memories of the book :)
ah, I see. thanks for the info. :D
I saw a mainland series that mixed up all the characters of GL and was fooled into thinking that Fu and Yip Hoi actually appeared in meteor,...
:o

You are not the only one who got this trouble :D
Watch the 1996 TVB series. It's pretty accurate. It's even 95% accurate according to some members.Quote:

Yeah 1996 is a very good alternative - IF you can tolerate the ugliness of Murong Fu and Duan Zhengchun (among some actors) there. ;)
Welcome to the club. It's ok membership is free :DQuote:

occupy yourself with other translations, like TSATE of Athena only one more chapter to go :hooray: you just need to get used with GL work style :D.
I personnaly find GL works is refreshing after reading JY, the story is more unpredictable somehow... :p

Folks,
It looks like Binky and two other volunteers, the English translators behind the first episode of SOD 2001 and the first 2 episodes of LOCH 2003 at Live-Evil.org are looking for volunteers to help them translate both adaptations completely.
Binky and 2 other volunteers are also planning to translate the upcoming DGSD 04. But there are only 3 of them, and they need help. I see some people from spcnet.tv are already volunteering to do it.
But the more people we have, the faster the projects can be done.
I think they are also trying to make the production company aware of this and maybe someday will release the official adaptations with English subtitles. Even Jin Yong himself is aware of what's going on and appreciate their translation efforts.
If you know Chinese Mandarin, Cantonese, or Viets and have some free time, please help them so they can expedite this painstaking process.
You can look at Binky's messages and updates in http://www.live-evil.org discussion forum.
Here's the direct link http://www.live-evil.org/cgi-bin/yab...num=1068320962
His e-mail is at [email protected]
Can anyone translate the CLH books?
Eh... hasn't Athena translated them? I know it's only three. But the rest don't really matter.
Hey! Whatchu talkin about Willis?! :) I loved Book 5 and Book 4 wasn't too shabby either.Quote:
