To Sugar:
**** MORE SPOILER WARNING ****
1. Young Flying Fox is an earlier story of Hu Fei. Reading XSFH, you'd know that Hu Fei is still unattached at that time.
2. He has some relationships in Young Flying Fox, including with Lingsu. I think he likes her basically like a younger sister, but it was more complicated than that.
3. I don't recollect it.
To Ultrarob:
Again, XSFH is a very deceptive book. You don't realize that Hu Fei IS the protagonist until quite late in the book, and Jin Yong does it on purpose with his usual craftiness.
So, Hu Fei is the one faced with a choice to revenge his father at this point or to stop the fight and clarify the matter. After all the girl he's engaged to is the opponent's daughter and she deserves a chance.
About the snow etc, since when this little things kill wuxia fighters? Jumping into the ravine usually doesn't kill the wuxia fighters, even less such small danger such as unstable snow etc... (hehehe).
-
thanks for the reply. but even if in young flying fox, he doesn't have to be unattached at the end of the Flying Fox of Snowy Mountain.
sorry, what complications with Ling TO did he have? I raelly liked this female character.. but too bad she died without Hu Fei truly loving her
-
No, he's become attached at the end of XSFH. But we know he isn't in the beginning. And 'Young Flying Fox' is about him being younger than in XSFH.
I don't quite remember Young Flying Fox details. Let me just say, "It seems Lingsu put out her heart and life for Hu Fei - while Hu Fei couldn't really reciprocate with the same intensity as he was attracted to someone else."
Hope that satisfies you :)
-
OH!! I see! I understand. thanks alot.
SO it means that Hu Fei like Yuan Zi yi at that point right.
One more question, he never met Mui Ren Feng's doctor in the Young Flying Fox right? The only time he met her was in XSHS, near the end, yah? and fell in love with her gentleness and beauty.
-
-
ohhh. so would u say, Hu Fei's love for Mui Ren Feng's daughter was some rebound from yuan zi yi?? That's what some one told me.. but somehow i didn't feel it.
-
I doubt it's a rebound. He was about 20 in "Young Flying Fox" and 28 in XSFH. There's enough time relapse to subdue the old feeling.
-
I thought so too.. i dont' get why the TVB version 1999 made Miu Rek Lan get raped and met Hu Fei earlier...
now i realyl want to read the Young Flying Fox
-
.
Well, I would read your translation since I haven't already read the translation by Ms. Mok and since most of the readers say it's not a very good translation I don't intend to do so very soon.
-
As for myself, I wold love to read! I didn't read the official treanslation neither - although we can buy it in Amazon.com - I will buy 'coz Amazon.com to send it to my country is a bit complicated... a lot of extra taxs rising abnormally the original price... no preview of date to arrive... I won't be able to follow the product... and if it come damaged it will be another journey to trade... so better don't even buy ...
-
Mok's translatins wasn't bad.. but some names were so awkward. I was thoroughly upset with the Hu YI DAO= Gully Hu.. wth
can some tell me
What kind of person was HU fei like in the YOugn flying Fox? Sentimental? Coldhearted and all?
