They're at the same place, so they're equidistant to the north.

Can't understand this riddle's answer. Can someone help?
Why are manhole covers round?
Ans: If you put a square cover on a manhole at the wrong angle, it will immediately fall down. This will not happen with a round cover.
My reaction: Isn't there square manholes and square covers nowadays?
