The LOCH 7 Star Big Dipper Formation and the ROCH 100-man Great Dipper Formation

When Gwok Jing defeated the Cheun Jen Sect's 100-man Great Dipper Formation near the beginning of ROCH, it was considered quite a great feat. After all, none of the senior Greats who had preceded him had ever decisively defeated any of the Cheun Jen Sect's Big Dipper Formations.

Overall, however, was the 100-man Great Dipper Formation that Gwok Jing fought anywhere near as impressive as the 7-man Big Dipper Formation from LOCH? The seven original Cheun Jen Disciples were each far more powerful than any of the third-generation Cheun Jen Sect Taoists who manned the 100-man version (nobody better than Chiu Tze Ging in that formation). Did 100 of those guys using the formation equal or surpass the original Cheun Jen 7 Disciples using the formation?

i think the original 7 is stronger since they probably have better chi base cultivation, and mental/psychological maturity then the younger gens.

the younger gens just wanted to win, and isn't the whole bigger dipper formation all about same mindset, think alike or something?

in the novel did guo jing use just hand to hand martials arts, or did he use like dragon palm etc to defeat the formation in rotch?

He used his knowledge of the formation, his Hong Lung 18 Palms, and even some of his father-in-law's Divine Snap Technique to disarm the Taoists.

One would surmise that parimony is the best prinicple to formations. Keep it as small as possible. The more people means it's harder to co-ordinate, harder to transition. And the QZ7 could better defend their important positions. These things are only as strong as the weakest link. So the fewer weak links the better.

I think the 100-men Great Dipper Formation is not as strong as the 7 Star Big Dipper Formation. Time and again, we know that numbers don't mean much. I believe the 100-men Great Dipper Formation is meant to stall for time before the Head of Quanzhen (whoever that might be) comes to kill the intruder.

I think original Big Dipper dan 💯 men Big Dipper more or less equal since YG admit the force behind that formation more greater than JLFW and co and hard to withstand..

The original 7 Star Big Dipper formation was created to contain a Great at LOCH level. By ROCH they had moved way beyond that limit.

As for the 100 people formation, was that created by WCY or the Seven Immortals of Quanzhen? If the latter then that would explain why it was comparatively weak when facing GJ.
