I know it's a necessary evil, but 90% of it is fake.
I just bought "Networking for People Who Hate Networking" -it's the one with 3 penguins on the cover. Haven't read it yet.
At 10K per referral at my work it's probably worthwhile for me to up my networking game but I haven't been very successful at it. In general the people who I meet via networking can't even pass a preliminary screening at my work so it's usually a waste of my time, and that of my coworkers if I recommend them.
your field is very technical, right? i can see why it'd be very difficult to find qualified people.
I hate networking too...but I've been told that I see like I might be good at it. Well, I don't know but these days....I think you can't really get anywhere without having really good friends. Lots of places, I've heard, depend on internal references--so you must know someone on the inside.
i always feel like i'm bothering ppl, which i probably am.
after bothering this dude for a while, i feel like my networking is paying off! woot!
Networking is very important for social relationship but some time it is fake but if you try to make social relation from your own side by giving your own efforts with feelings, emotions and need to understand. If these things follow by anyone then I think your networking is not fake.
