Ten Chinese movies set for Hollywood bow

BEIJING – China’s movie administration org State Administration of Radio, Film and Television said 10 Chinese movies will screen at the forthcoming Hollywood China Film Festival, which is due to take place in Hollywood in November (Nov 1-29).
Among the pics featured is “The Longest Night in Shanghai”, a Sino-Japanese project with coin from Japan's Movie Eye Entertainment Corporation starring Masahiro Motoki and Zhao Wei.
The pics chosen also include “My Dream”, a documentary about disabled dancers, which was shown at Cannes this year and “Tokyo Trial”, which looks at the trial of top Japanese war criminals after WWII, SARFT said.
“The Red Jacket”, helmed by Zou Yalin, is a story about the relationship between a grandmother and her granddaughter set in the Miao region of China.
Other titles include “Getting Home”, directed by Yang Zhang, a black comedy about a farmer who brings home the body of his friend who dies far away, and the drama “PK.com.cn”. Remaining titles include “The Knot”, “Getting Home”, “The Case”, “Loving the City” and “Ganglamedo”.
The fest is the third Hollywood China Film Festival and is jointly hosted by EDI Media Inc., Ruddy Morgan Organization, Shenhart Entertainment and Sun Media Investment Group.
The first festival was held in September 2005 to promote exchanges between film makers of the two countries and introduce more Chinese movies to Stateside auds.
