How many episodes is ROCH?
I don't think they've confirmed it yet. But I would think it'd be around 40 episodes like XAJH. The book has 40 chapters.Quote:

40 episodes? how long is each episode anyway? do you know?
It was her 18th b-day. I believe the book and all the tv and comic versions agree on that.Quote:

She is only 18 and given a very prominent role of XLN. Whether or not people like XLN, it is a very visible role in a very lavish production. I guess there are those who might feel she was extremely lucky rather than talented.
I have seen a number of SDXL clips and innumerable fan music videos and she does look very young against all the other actors. It is a little jarring for me even though I know she is suppose to look eternally 16 thoughout the series. I guess it is one thing to know intellectually and another thing to finally see a XLN who looks 16 especially since YG is played by an actor who is 30. It is a little like Romeo and Juliet. It is one thing to know that Juliet is 14 to Romeo's 18 in the play but if it actually ever got produced with the actors looking those ages; I believe a lot of people would feel uncomfortable including me.
I am partial to Idy Chan's portrayal of WYY in TLBB and XLN in SDXL so I never liked any of her sucessors very much. I was critical about LYF's version of WYY but a friend pointed out that at least she was trying to be the WYY of the book and not Idy Chan's successor. So I guess maybe I just didn't like WYY as portrayed by the book. I can't read Chinese very well so I won't be able to read the novels anytime soon. She needs more seasoning but I have seen worst actresses who have been in the business longer. At least she is improving and learning.
I am a big fan of SDXL so I think I will look forward to the 2006 CCTV production as a different take on the story from the other versions. I will also look forward to LYF's version of XLN. I believe she won't try to copy Idy Chan's portrayal which will be a relief. I don't know if I will like this XLN or not but at least I won't see a pale imitation.
Oh, don't worry, HXM is a good actor. He's quite versatile. Played many different roles before and did them successfully. Most of us here don't have any doubt in him, I think.Quote:

strawberry...i feel the same way...i have no doubt about HXM...he'll do a good job as YG.
BTW, do you guys think Jing Yong will ever make a sequel to this series before he die? No huh?
Technically, the sequel to this series is HSDS...Quote:

Yes, if you read the book, she would appear exactly twice in HSDS(yes, the 2003 adaption was correct). She is one of the best fighters in HSDS. Her kung fu is the Nine Yin Claw, but the good side, in other word, she learned the top Nine Yin, then the bottom Nine Yin, so the kung fu is a good side kung fu not an evil. She used the kung fu to kick Zho Ji Ro's butt (don't know how to say it). That was the second time she appeared. The first time, was at the ga bang. She bought the little girl with her and explained the leader's death and the Dragon's 18 palm. She explained that after Guo Jing, the kung fu was given to his son-in-law, however, only 14 palms, not 18. So in Ga Bang after that, the most a leader has been able to learn was 14. Later, to the dead leader, 12 palms. After the leader was dead, the kung fu was lost in history. Oh yeah, the girl is 28 or 29 according to the book.
Is she stronger than Zhang Wuji? They didn't fight but I think she's stronger.Quote:

And the Nine Yang Manual and Gold Metal Book of Shaolin are the 2 strongest at inner kung fu, even stronger than Nine Yin. Outer Kung Fu, Nine Yin is the best of all.
It's said in the book that 9 Yin was as lethal as 9 Yang, so I think it would be a pretty equal fight in terms of abilities. The Yang girl seems wiser though..Quote:

ZWJ also learned Tai-Chi. So in inner kung fu, ZWJ is suppose to be stronger.
Hmm, isn't Tai-Chi an outer kungfu? Also, it's quite possible that Yang had practised the first half of 9 Yin (Taoist inner power philosophy) for many more years than ZWJ had practised his 9 Yang. So they might be equal here.Quote:

Well...., your actually are right about inner kung fu. It depends on who learns longer. If Yang and Yin were learned at the same amount of year, Yang would beat Yin about 2 levels. However, the age difference could mean that Yang learned longer, so the inner kung fu, they actually may be equal.
