Zhao Wei announces new nilm, not Painted Skin 2 [CRI, July 29, 2010 ]

New mother Zhao Wei said Tuesday (July 27) that she is unwilling to be a housewife, and is resuming her film work in two months.

"Working makes women more charming. I have some ideas about film and I don't want to waste them," the Chinese actress said at an event in Beijing where she was promoting a beverage brand.

Zhao declined to name her new film, but said it was not the "Painted Skin" sequel as previously reported.

The 2008 fantasy drama "Painted Skin", directed by Gordon Chan, earned Zhao a nomination for best actress at the 2009 Asian Film Awards.

"I don't want to repeat roles. I hope my new film will give audiences a refreshing feel," Zhao said.
At the event, Zhao was surrounded by enthusiastic reporters who were eager to learn more about her baby daughter, who was born in April. The actress refused to give away any information, saying she didn't like talking about her personal life.

Zhao disappeared from the limelight in late 2009 shortly after completing the martial-arts film "14 Blades". Paparazzi captured her expecting a baby in Singapore. She gave birth to a girl on April 11, allegedly fathered by businessman Huang Youlong.

Zhao, 34, rose to stardom by starring in the 1998 TV series "Princess Pearl". She has been seen more frequently on the big screen in recent years, acting in such films as "The Longest Night in Shanghai" (2007) and "Mulan" (2009). She is a three-time winner of the Favorite Actress award voted for by college students at the Beijing Student Film Festival.

I think to maintain a great loving relationship with those in entertainment circle is really difficult. If both are in the entertainment circle it would be harder to maintain their relationship, and require lots of sacrified. Maybe it's the businessman is moe understanding about actress wanting to return to entertainment cirlce while lots of actors want their wife to stay behind llimelight-thus cause lots of conflict for actresses like Vicki

Ya, don't see her on Twitter. She has so many fans on Weibo!

Think she's ranked 4th now in the popularity list in terms of followers.

I would also rather marry money since it's a woman's second best friend after diamonds. But got money can buy lots of diamonds so should be best friend really. Handsome actor today, deadbeat actor tomorrow. Got hope meh?
Didn't expect Vicki to be so busty......yummy mummy...... :-)

Contrast his weak chin to HXM's strong jawline...

Omgosh...I haven't visited this thread for a while and now find her married. Too bad she couldn't marry HXM and break some fangirls hearts. Her husband is just rich, but at some angles he kind of resembles Ellesmere Choi. She still looks beautiful, though make up does lots of magic. I finally saw Red Cliff and Chinese Odyssey 2002.

She is currently busy with film commercial and preparing for her self-directorial debut movie and upcoming project. She will have a busy year coming up with at least 2 new movie projects and self-directorial album.

Medida never got a hold of her baby girl's picture. Vick is a very private person, i would be suprise if she even let media catch a glimpse of her baby.

She's not aging well. Though one could argue it's always been about make up and lighting for her.

After devoting an entire year to her family, actress Zhao Wei has announced her comeback role, actually two roles.

Zhao Wei will play two roles in "Underground Resistance" ("Shi Kong Di Dao"), a film that involves romance and time travel, the actress said Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at a press conference held for the film in Tianjin.

"But I can't say more at the moment. The scripts are still undergoing some changes," Zhao Wei was quoted in a report on Sina.com.cn.

The film, directed by Li Xin ("Dazzling"; 2002), will also star actor Huang Xiaoming ("Sacrifice"; 2010), Zhao Wei's classmate from the Beijing Film Academy.

It will be the first collaboration between them, who are both now A-list stars.

Shooting is scheduled to start in February, with a release date set in the second half of 2011.

Zhao Wei, whose notable films include "Painted Skin" (2008) and "Mulan" (2009), disappeared from the public eye in late 2009 after finishing her part in Daniel Lee's martial-arts film, "14 Blades". She gave birth to her first child, a baby girl, this April.
