saddest - as with most or all such superlatives, it is difficult to answer this sort of Qs... "what's / who's your favorite food/ song / car / singer / model / superstar / hero / ....."

particularly coz among all relative things in this world superlative categories are most relative... especially when it comes to opinions...

    yeah, opinion...

for me Titanic was sad, Infernal affairs too, and Gladiator ....

but I think sad endings are more realistic than "hero and heroin walking embraced towards setting sun on the horizin" american style endings .... coz in real life heros mostly die - mostly no happy endings...

I was wet in the eyes during The Last Samurai, when they were mercilessly gunning down the samurais with the autocannon.

I cant remember the saddest movie ever watched, but i think 'I not stupid' was rather sad when one of the boy's mother, acted by Xiang Yun, contacted cancer and was hospitalised. And how his friends and his friends' family members offered their help was rather moving.

    Default All time saddest

If I may include series too, I think "the return of Cuckoo" is the saddest of all, movies and series included.
Even stones will bleed tears with that movie. For a guy like myself crying while watching the movies means the movie is really something. I knew many gals did. I wonder if I am the only guy that cried.

Sam Pek Eng Thay - the Butterfly Lover by Nicky Wu and Charlie Cheung.

    A Walk to Remember, ET

thats all I can remember now... surely there are more, cause I'm pretty easy to be touch with sad scenes...
    Spring Summer Autumn Winter.
    Pair ducks nest fly together.
Clemencies. Summer life, feather winter white.
Green meadow in spring, before the autumn bite.
    Watching the red gown.
    And none else, alone.

Titanic & Armageddon. One of the saddest hk movies I have seen is "Running out of time" starring Andy Lau & Sean Lau Ching Wan.

Don't know why but I was always more scared of Grave of the Fireflies rather than sad. Some scenes in there are pretty graphic.. such as the one of the sibling's mom's corpse. Used to give me nightmares.
