This may sound weird but I cried at the end of The Mad Phoenix, especially the part where Mr. Thirteen died without his shoes on, and they went on to show a montage of images in modern HK. Made me very sad....

Another movie that never fails to make me cry towards the end is Big Fish, but I guess that's more of feeling touched than sad

Other sad movies... Well, The Story of Ah Long and Grave of the Fireflies definitely are up on my list. Another one is Iris, which stars Judi Dench and Jim Broadbent. Cried buckets in the end!

"We set out to change the world... ended up just changing ourselves."
    "What's wrong with that?"
"Nothing, if you don't look at the world."

yep, for me it will have to be "graves of the fireflies" follow by "the lovers" with nicky wu and charlie yeung.

"graves of the fireflies" truly is hopeless and so sad it breaks your heart. i cried so much on the first viewing that my nose clogged up and my eyes were mega puffy. i couldn't stop crying even after the movie was finished.

now, i cannot make myself watch it again because it's going to break my heart and i do not want to cry like that.

Oh yes, oh yes, oh yes! 'Grave of the Fireflies'! Without doubt the saddest movie I have EVER watched. The thing about GoTF is that in other sad movies, there's always a ray of hope at the end...but in GoTF there's just nothing! It shatters you. It haunts you. I don't think I can watch that movie again [even though it's brilliant] because it's far too heartrending. Movies like GoTF make other sad films like 'A Walk to Remember' or 'Titanic' seem like comedies.

Other than GoTF, Finding Neverland comes a distant second. At the ending scene, when Johnny Depp talked to Freddie Highmore, the tears just started flowing. I'm not a sentimental person but because the movie was so beautiful and so emotional, I couldn't help it.

I agree, Grave of the Fireflies was the saddest movie I had ever watch. I don't think I can ever bring myself to watch it again. There's a live action version of GotF, recently aired in Japan, starring Matsushima Nanako. I am still contemplating whether to watch it, I will probably just cry all over the place watching the show...

Ah About Ah Long always manage to make me feel like crap afterwatching it. Especially the ending.

Happy Times wasn't happy at all.

anyone watch the New Zealand movie, Once Were Warriors? I wouldn't reccommend watching it unless you want to be depressed for the rest of the week.

ever heard of the "Notebook"... "DareDevil"... um.. thats all i can think for now.. but i think that their sad movies... oh.. yeah.. i forgot "KINGKONG"... i thought it was a bad movie but when my friends asked and begged me to watch it.. it was fine.. actually its great... the tribe peoples are sooo scary... but the weird part is the part when dinosaurs came it.. but it was still good.. but there is something i've noticed in the last part of the movie.. when KingKong is about to fall down from the building... there was no sound when he reached the ground... the road wasn't even cracked.. pretty weird huh...
