Lady Zhuge, thanx for the welcome. I feel like I am the biggest BB fan in the states. In addition to QWLSHM, I've seen about 6 tv series with BB, not all finished. None of these TV series are by any means masterpieces, mostly due to medicro quality of scripts and stories. But IMO Bao Bao's performance are almost always very good, if given screen time and lines, the highlights of the shows.

For ancient series, I like:
- Emperor Kang Xi in QTYM (BB is so handsome and chairmatic). The series is pretty entertaining

- Wei Zheng in QWLSHM. It just made my favorate list as I am watching it. Wei Zheng does not have the most flattering makeup and costume, kinda hide all BB's good lookl. But I like the last 16 episodes better than the first 2/3 of the series. The stories and BB's character get more interesting and it grew on me. BB put on quiet a show there.

For comptemporary seires, I like:

- Gu Yue Tao in 18 year old sky. In this show, BB combined his boyish charm with his born comedy talent. This one made him many many fans (a lot of students) all over the country as it always drew super high ratings whenver it is on TV in BB is getting much more popular in China this summer because of it. Acting wise, a bit over the top, but fits the light spirited campy campus comedy perfectly.

- Yin Zheng Feng in QPTT. Yin is polar opposite of his popular role in 18. Yin is gloomy and sullen with a history of heartbreaking suffering. He almost never smiles. I need to put more thoughts to this one on why I really like other than the fact that BB's stubbled look is super hot. The series is very watchable, characters are all likable, albert the writing is a bit light weighted.

Anyway, enough of my rumbling. What picture should I post? I don't if I'll post something that have already posted.

Jennie, you might be the biggest Bao Bao fan in the states if it wasn't for the fact that I live in the states as well. All teasing aside, Bao Bao needs and totally deserves all the fan support he gets anywhere and everywhere. I totally agree: given a quality production complete with story, script, costumes, etc., Bao Bao could really excel, but even in mediocre series, he has still managed to catch the attention and capture the hearts of fans with his diverse acting skills and natural charisma. This guy's the complete package: looks, charm, acting skills, awesome personality (happy-go-lucky, kind, caring, humorous, modest), intelligent, talented...

Out of curiosity, how long were you lurking here at SPCNET (and Bao Bao's thread) before finally registering and posting?

I've watched a few episodes of QTYM and agree that Bao Bao is SO adorable as Kang Xi. He pulls the bald look off very well. However, aside from Bao Bao, the series didn't hold my attention as well as I would have liked. There didn't seem to be much of a plot as I was expecting/hoping the layout to be more like the Young Justice Bao series in terms of mystery and intrigue. Maybe it's because I didn't watch enough episodes yet, but I will definitely finish watching the series eventually on account of Bao Bao. Have you heard that there will be a QTYM 2?

QWLSM was my first Bao Bao series. I actually originally watched that show for some of the other cast members (Yan Kuan and Gao Yuan Yuan mainly), but Bao Bao ended up captivating me the most. Wei Zheng reminded me of Zhuge Liang (my historical idol) in several respects and Bao Bao did a great job bringing out his intelligence and hard working nature, but also successfully eminated charm and humor as well. He was so cute with Alyssa too and I liked the fact that she was the one who had to chase him instead of the other way around like in Zhi Zun Hong Yan (Legend of Wu Mei Niang).

I watched Shi Ba Sui De Tian Kong (18 Year Old Sky) this past summer and it was pretty good for an idol drama. I agree that Bao Bao's acting was over the top, but it was fitting for the role of Gu Yue Tao. I wish I had a teacher like Gu lao shi. I really don't like the woman (Pei Pei) he was matched up with, though. Her face is totally unattractive IMO and she didn't seem like a teacher at all.

I've only seen about 4 episodes of Qi Pao Tian Tang. Bao Bao's character was understandably mopey in there and in that respect, the complete opposite of Gu Yue Tao. Bao Bao actually played two characters in QPTT, right? I really liked the opening song that Bao Bao performed.

Have you seen Yang Men Hu Jiang? It would have been better had Bao Bao gotten more screentime.

Don't worry about rambling or posting pics that have already been posted. I enjoy talking and reading about Bao Bao and I bet most people who find him interesting enough to browse through his thread (whether they post or not) feel the same way. Let's just hope there won't be another crash that'll wipe out a ton of posts and pics like last time.

Cool pix. I started lurking around here maybe 3 years ago when Feng Yun I came out, back then there were over abundant of Huan Zhu Ge Ge posts (actually too many). I registered but couldn't post, so I kinda backed out from this board except for occassional lurking.

As far as QPTT, I found episodes 1-8 emotionally flat. But episodes 9-16 really pick up steam between BB and Xia Shu's romance , BB actually makes such a good romantic lead. I like the songs a lot including the opening song (by BB) and the other one Yi Ge Ren De Ji Mo (by Li Zhi Nan).

BTW, I heard in QTYM II, BB only has a cameo part as Kang Xi, he didn'y even shave his head.

18 Sui De Tian Kong is an idol drama set at Jia Ying middle school. Individual students have problems that get resolved through the help of others. Bao Bao's the offbeat new homeroom teacher Gu Yue Tao who plays a large part in inspiring and helping his students. There are also some love triangles amongst the teachers. It's an entertaining series that follows a predictable storyline. Give it a try; I think it'll make you dig Bao Bao even more.

Digitalis, if you like comedy, definitely check out 十八岁的天空. I got the DVD from Paylessbookstore for $13.

Bao Bao can do anything, comedy, drama, ancient, comtemporary, you name it. He doesn't like repeting the same type of characters like a lot of young idol actors do. Other than maybe Gu Yue Tao whose personality he said is closest to himself, all his characters are so diversed. He delivered them perfectly, actually I think that is why he hasn't got the recognization he so much deserved yet. You can barely recognize the same actor portraying the useless Li Zhi, the almighty Kang Xi, the boyishly and offbeat Gu Yue Tao, the cool and vunerable Yin Zhen Feng.

No, BB is guest star in a few episodes and then his character died abruptly . But it looks like he played a cool dude there and will be the focus of those episode his is in. The good thing about it is that I can just download and watch those eps and don't have to fast forward every single one.


I am also waiting for Mang Xia to come out, BB filmed it late 2004 and early 2005.

In a way, I'm kind of glad Bao Bao's only a guest star in XYMC. The costumes are so weird I'm not sure if the series wouldn't be that way as well. I'm looking forward to Mang Xia too. I don't like Peter Ho, though. That guy seems to always be in series which have actors I look forward to watching in them.

I agree, there's definitely some resemblance between Bao Bao and the deliciously talented Johnny Depp.

Yep, I can definitely see Bao Bao as either Kang Xi or Wei Xiao Bao. Zhang Ji Zhong has postponed his Mainland remake of the DoMD or else I'd love to see Bao Bao cast as Kang Xi and Jia Yi Ping as Wei Xiao Bao. If Bao Bao were cast as Wei Xiao Bao, I'd enjoy seeing him paired with Qiao Zhen Yu as Kang Xi.
