Profile

Female champion of Star Search '97, Singapore's bi-annual nationwide talent search, and Ms Photogenic, Florence captured the hearts of the audience with her oriental and ravishing looks. Florence exhibited her performing versatility with her portrayal of 3 different characters -- a tomboyish girl, a songstress and a reporter -- in different time periods in her debut drama Immortal Love.

Tapping on her oriental beauty, Florence was cast in several large-scale period dramas such as Return of the Condor Heroes and The Legendary Swordsman. Witty and spontaneous, Florence is a natural at providing appropriate comic relief in her roles. Her role in The Legendary Swordsman as a quick-witted and sharp sidekick of the Holy Maiden (played by Fann Wong) won the hearts of viewers and brought considerable level of entertainment to them.

Florence's acting skill has improved along the way and she was nominated several times for Best Supporting Actress in the annual Star Awards, an award ceremony for TV personalities. Given her potential and diligence, this is an artiste that will give her best in every production.

Hmm, I think Florence Tan is not given enough exposure in mediacorp, she always gets puny or unlikeable roles... Its really great to see her in a big production joint with other countries. Hope it can raise her profile and mediacorp start giving her lead roles eh??

Not a big fan of phyllis quek, it doesn't matter what role she acts in, I always see the same expression... Dont think she can break out of her 'hua ping' roles

Yvonne was the first runner-up in the Singapore Polytechnic Beauty Quest and a finalist with Go Magazine's Cover Girl Contest before she joined Star Search in 1997, Singapore's bi-annual talent search. She was offered a full-time artiste contract with MediaCorp Studios and was given the lead role in her debut TV drama, Starting Point, where she played a young entrepreneur, which won a lasting impression in every audience's heart.

With a natural flair for acting, Yvonne plays every character with such ease, winning raves from critics and audiences alike. Her versatility is also shown in various blockbuster drama serials ranging from the period drama Return Of The Condor Heroes to the award winning Stepping Out. Her performances have all received favourable comments and she was voted one of the Top 10 Most Popular Female Artistes in Star Awards '98, an annual award ceremony for TV personalities.

This talented actress also recorded and released a solo Mandarin album in the year 2000. In 2002, she teams up with Hong Kong ATV station in a 30-part courtroom drama Innocently Guilty, holding court with Hong Kong stars like Anita Yuen, Kent Cheng and Wong Yat Wah.
