BB is over exposed. I'd prefer to see new faces and China has like 1 million beautiful and talented young girls dying to be actresses.
I'd propose Yang Mi (ROCH06's Guo Xiang) as the princess. She has that pretty, cute and fun air about her.

hrm... if they were to cast FBB i'm pretty sure they'll put her as ah ke... she'll definitely get a main role.... really can't imagine FBB as shuang er....
She's be a really bad choice for Shuang Er. I can almost stand the thought of her as A Ke, but she's definitely a no no for Shuang Er. She could also do Fang Yi.Originally Posted by rourou

Oh... THANKS MAN! Saw her before at Twins Effect II...

doubt it for fang yi... they always cast the prettiest for ah ke and then the less outstanding ones for the other roles since she's suppose to be the brightest 'star' in the show.. but really hope to see a different face this time.. kinda tired with FBB (no offense she's pretty and can act but seen too much of her shows edi)Originally Posted by 0-0-0
I think Jiang Xin would be the ideal Fang Yi... i guess FBB is ok for A Ke... it's not that i dislike her, becuase i admit that she's pretty and can also act... I'm also really tired of seeing her everywhere. That's the main thing... and it's not like there aren't prettier actresses out there to act as A Ke. I mean, Yang Mi would be great for A ke.Originally Posted by rourou
The princess dies in the end right? So not a good role for a cute actress like Yang Mi.
she dies? Either i've read an old edition... or you've gotten your facts wrongOriginally Posted by Surferket
i thought WXB ended up with all 7 wives... happily ever after
In Dicky Cheung's version the princess is the only wife to die. Ruby Lin was the princess and as usual, she was a very good princess.

i don't think any of them die in the book... so i would assume no one would die in ZJZ's versionOriginally Posted by Surferket
Hey... ANy of you guys know whether this series will have RouRou... Because in the Dicky Chueng series, they replace her with Little Goldfish, which I think was a bad choice...

If ZJZ remains faithful to the novel and there is no reason to suspect that he won't given his track record, Zeng Rou will be in there.Originally Posted by coolseason
The misconception of the princess dying, existence of Xiao Jin Yu, non-existence of Zeng Rou, WXB being a supreme martial artist, and a myriad of other things is why I absolutely abhor the Wang Jing production(Dicky's version). While the series itself was entertaining, it completely distorted and IMHO destroyed the anti-hero element that made DOMD special as a novel and WXB unique as a character. I would have preferred that Wang Jing "imitate" from Jin Yong and create an "original" happy go lucky polygamist protagonist of his own.
In the ending of the novel, WXB, his wives, children, and mother retire to Da Li to live a so call life of seclusion. Presumably they live happily ever after, although for those who are curious there is an addendum to the novel(not written by JY) where WXB gives up the materialistic world and truly becomes a monk.

I'm hoping this won't happen with DOMD, because the current FLying fox being filmed has large scale changes where two of the three girls die, and one is raped.Originally Posted by TrinketWei

While nothing is a guarantee in the entertainment industry, I am 99.9% sure ZJZ won't do such a thing. First, given that he has been pretty faithful to JY's novels in all his previous adaptations(LOCH, SOD, DGSD, ROCH) I doubt he'll all of sudden change now. More importantly ZJZ actually cares what JY thinks about him unlike Wang Jing who could care less. Part of the reason the JY refuses to let TVB make anymore adaptations of his novels was his inability to tolerate TVB butchering his works.Originally Posted by 0-0-0
Lest one think I am being overly critical of WJ and those of his ilk, I want to emphasize that I completly understand the need for changes and modifications when dealing with adaptations since most of them have been made before. Slight modifications to keep things fresh for those familiar with the story and garner new audiences. It's one thing to slightly modify, it's altogether different when the director completely alters the plot of the novel. Imagine LOCH where Guo Jing becomes a lecherous creep who shuns patriotism for personal gain. Yang Kang's true love is actually Huang Rong and his conflict with GJ stems from envy and jealously. Instead of attracting new audiences, such drastic altercations can lead to negative backlash.
A good example of this is TVB's FuYuFanYun, an adaptation of a Huang Yi novel. It was tremendously different from the novel, but I still found it very entertaining and thought it was TVB's best WuXia series in recent years. Yet its ratings were extremely low in HK, and many faithful readers blasted it for its unfaithfulness. Here TVB would have been better off creating an original series (which it essentially was) instead of borrowing the names and characters from the novel with a whole new plot. Then again Dicky's version of DOMD was one of the highest rated shows ever to air in HK, so what do I know.
Finally, I just want to point out for those who wonder why there should be anticipation and excitement for a series that has been made many times before. DOMD has never been adapted by a director with ZJZ's budget, scale, and resources. The number of potential actresses for the female leads is a prime example of how grand this production could be.

I doubt ZJZ will adapt DOMD very much... however i think he's going for some very high expectations with 50 something episodes, and i'd hate for it to get cut down to 41 like ROCH did. While nothing is a guarantee in the entertainment industry, I am 99.9% sure ZJZ won't do such a thing. I don't see how the changes in FLying Fox are necessary at all. What's the point of having MRL raped, and why is she going to marry Fu Kang An instead of living happily with Hu Fei. What's the point of having YZY die, due to something that MRL accidently did. Acutally, i understand the concept of good changes, because i thought LOCH 83 made some good changes and added some good scenes, but some of the series have just butchered the storylineLest one think I am being overly critical of WJ and those of his ilk, I want to emphasize that I completly understand the need for changes and modifications when dealing with adaptations since most of them have been made before. Wong Jing loves sad and F'ed up endings. Watch all his series they almost all end with a sad ending. Which is why i give all wong jing series a miss now![]()
I heard that ZJZ is running out of budget so by the time he works on HSDS, it may not be as good... Oh brother... I hope that it isn't true...I thought that since it will be his last JY adaption that it will be good. Maybe not if he is running out of budget...
