Yea, but ZJZ is capable of creating a good wuxia feel. I thought it was done very well in XAJH with the fighting and the music. However ROCH exudes 'romance', 'soapie' and 'fantasy' which i assume will not be present in DOMD, as ROCH was a romantic novel as opposed to a more humourous interesting one.

However it seems that the final 2 contestants for Kangxi are between HXM and Ren Quan, with HXM more likely to get role as he is ZJZ's favourite and the latter has a very good impression of him. i must admit that i am pretty sick of seeing HXM ever since i saw his YG in ROCH06. Call me biased but he just left me with a very bad after taste after ROCH and i dont look forward to seeing him on screen, at least, not for the time being when his horrifying image of YG is still lingering and fresh in my mind. But then again, he's supposed to be good with emperor roles judging from the praises for DHTZ1 &2 where he stars as Han Wudi.

BTW, ZJZ has mentioned some of the things he would change from the novel. For example, WXB will not have/end up with 7 wives as well as the ending in the novel which he finds not direct and energetic enough. One big change would be Kangxi's character; ZJZ is planning to shift his role to leading male, which shares same status as WXB (this probably explains the audition hype for Kangxi and i hope they dont do a XLN ROCH06 rendition and over-emphasize on the character)

Can't he just stick to the bloody book. The add ons for Kang xi is fine because it is implied in the book but killing WXB's wives or making them leave him or him leave them just leaves a bad taste in the mouth

　　张纪中的《鹿鼎记》剧组于前昨两天在上海进行了大规模海选，征选的角色主要是“韦小宝”和他的“七个老 婆”。昨天，记者亲赴上戏海选现场，副导演赵广斌告诉记者，虽然选手们普遍条件不错，但令人眼前一亮的却一 个也没有。而同样的情况也发生在北京、福州两个海选地。目前，《鹿鼎记》演员的大规模海选已经结束，导演组 要做的就是整理各地报名资料，再做挑选。据悉，50集的《鹿鼎记》计划将于7月10日左右开机，“韦小宝” 到底花落谁家，还是导演组一个相当头痛的问题。

　　赵广斌告诉记者，两天来，上海的俊男靓女纷纷来试镜，但大部分都是集中于上海戏剧学院、谢晋恒通艺术学 院、银都艺校等专业艺术学校，“选手们条件都不错，但就是没有令人眼前一亮的，没有让我们感觉到这个角色是 非他不可的。”至于评选标准，赵导说：“主要还是要契合戏中角色的要求和感觉。”
　　
　　采访中，记者发现赵导对一位来自温州的女孩颇为青睐，了解之下得知她还是上戏一年级的学生，而按规定， 大一学生不能外出接拍电视剧，投资方华谊兄弟的有关人员向记者解释，已经与戏剧学校进行过协调，一旦大一学 生被选中出演有相当分量的角色，学校会进行合理考虑，给学生锻炼的机会。《鹿鼎记》中人物众多，到底会用多 少新人，赵广斌表示：“韦小宝的7个老婆里面，我们尽量考虑演员的多面化，不会全部用新人，但尽量推新人， 因为张纪中是最喜欢推新人的。”
　　
　　“韦小宝”但求符合原著
　　近日坊间一直传说，邓超最有可能出演韦小宝，对此，赵广斌表示一切都未定。他告诉记者，以往几个影视版 本的“韦小宝”年龄都偏大，而原著中韦小宝出场时只有十四五岁，此番张纪中为拍出最符合原著的“韦小宝”， 对其扮演者有两种方案：“如果能找到一个20岁左右、个头不高的男演员，往小、往大演都合适，那么韦小宝就 由这一个人来演，如果找不到这么一个人，韦小宝就要分少年和成年两个阶段，由两个人来演，就像《神雕侠侣》 中由小叮当和黄晓明分别扮演两个时期的杨过一样。”
　　
　　“双儿”第一个进组
　　虽然“韦小宝”仍然没有眉目，但“双儿”却成为第一个进组的演员——即雅虎搜星的冠军何琢言，她也是去 年超女杭州赛区的第7名。赵广斌告诉记者，因为双儿有很多打戏，何琢言又是新人，因此她目前已经进组练武、 熟悉剧本，“小姑娘很有灵气，也挺勤奋的。”
　　
　　另外，一些角色也有了定论：歌手景岗山扮演“天地会”中的风际中；曾在《水浒》中扮演李逵的赵小瑞出演 茅十八；范冰冰演阿珂、蒋勤勤任真假太后也基本谈妥；反面人物郑克爽由钟汉良出演。而该剧的重要人物康熙皇 帝，制片方有意让黄晓明出演，但黄晓明是否“屈尊”任男二号，目前尚未有明确答复。■本报记者|潘昕|文■ 本报记者|朱良城|摄

sigh... a pretty face definitely, but still not my first choice for Shuang Er. Oh well, she might be good, although it's a bit risky giving such a major role to her. Mu Jian Ping would be a better role for a newcomer i think
