I really enjoyed Dicky's version, but I'm going to give this one a try too. The only thing that struck me really teary is when Jin Ning died in Dicky's version. Made me soooooooooooooo sad yeah. I hope this one sticks to the adaption otherwise I'll cry non-stop again TT

I thought that Dicky's version was horrible since it was WAY off that it cannot even be considered an adaption. This one should be better since I think it will follow the novel a lot more. None of the wives should die if they follow the novel.

I thought Dicky's version was pretty good as well. Although it wasn't faithful to Jin Yong, I enjoyed Dicky's character learning martial arts. Not keen on the idea that a wuxia hero doesn't know any martial arts.

I like both the Dicky and Jordan versions.

I am looking forward to this new version.

Anyone know when it will be released?

I am shocked that some of you liked Dicky's version. I guess it is because you have not read the novel or have not seen some accurate adaptions. I like Dicky a lot, but hated his version since it was ridiculous. Plus, I hate Ruby Lin and thought she was really annoying....(no offense to anyone who liked Dicky's version). Anyway, I think this series is still in production, so of course no one knows for sure when it will release.

I personally loved Andy and Tony's version and it will be hard to top their performances. Even though it wasn't 100% accurate to the novel, it was still a great series and was accurate to an extent. The acting by the main and supporting casts were great. Tony and Andy had great chemistry too. That was one thing that I must say many of the other versions lacked, especially Dicky's version.

I've never been a Dicky fan (at least not after the mid-90s) as in my mind I knew he was an 80s actor trying to remain child-like in the 90s. He also lacked character in acting, and seemed to just act like Dicky in every serial he acted in. Tony Leung was a class act. Until today the serial stands up to time, mainly because the martial arts are not the focus, and the fairly weak fighting scenes still work today if you take into account the actual skill of the characters. Andy and Tony's chemistry was top-notch, and I still can't believe they made me cry at the end during their farewells.

Here's hoping that ZJZ doesn't mind sacrificing a bit of epicness for character emotional attachment. There's more than the 'wow' factor in long serials - we need to care what happens to people, and somewhere after LOCH I realised that I was getting more and more detached from his characters. WXB has to be somebody you really like, Kangxi somebody you really respect and the wives ladies who are really desirable in their own various ways. The torn loyalties between the Tiandihui and government which WXB experiences and the wonderful way he reconciles his motives so that both parties benefit should make you admire WXB's luck and skill... it all revolves around WXB and Kangxi's performance, really.. and you can't ask for better than Andy and Tony, regardless of how.. well, ordinary, the girls were in general for that serial.

Very well said Ian! I agree everything you said, except that I have been a fan of Dicky since the 80s. It is true that his acting these days seems really repetitive due to his roles. But I think Dicky is a great actor and can play both good and evil roles too, not just funny ones.

It is hard to beat the chemistry of Andy and Tony.Tony even won an award from TVB for his role as WXB. I think that the story is more based on the relationship between WXB and KX, while the wives are more of just supporting characters. I think that is another thing that Dicky's version really lacked.....

I agreed with you both ( Ian Liew and Trinie) that the chemistry btw Tony and Andy was super, and was lack in other remakes. Hope that this version, they can act this part out.

Well, not everything can be perfect right? And furthermore, this is a show, so you cannot expect everything to be done exactly the same as the book...

Well, of course I don't expect everything to be like how it is exactly in the book. That simply is not even possible. But Dicky's version was WAY off and should not have been called "DOMD". I don't mind changes as long as they are reasonable.... But the changes in Dicky's version were not reasonable or acceptable at all...

didn't dicky's version have a different title? I know in viet it was different and I am pretty sure in chinese it was different too. isn't the director who directed it the same director who did amazing twins w/ nic and dicky? i enjoyed the guy's early 90 movies, but seriously, he can't direct dramas.

Yea, it was called Xiao Bao and Kang Xi, which is just a rip off of DOMD. It was directed by Wong Jing who is known to really mess with JY stories.

i don't really know, and frankly, i don't really care. This is as much of a bypass as Flying Fox, unless i feel daring enough to see how Shu Chang goes in it. I'm not thrilled with the cast at all though.

What, so is this not going to accurate to novel either?? If this is going to be bad like the new Flying Fox than I will skip it too. I am sick of remakes anyways, but I think you should watch a series for more than just the cast. I am really enjoying the new Bi Xue Jian right now. Even though people were saying that it is a low budget production and is based on a less popular novel, it turned out to be one of ZJZ's best productions....I also happened to like the cast as well. I think the cast in here doesn't seem bad. I like Wallace, Shu Chang and Xiao Ming.

oh no, it'll probably be reasonably close to the novel. I'm just bypassing becase of the horrible cast. Bi Xue Jian had a good cast, but DOMD's cast is really unimpressive. HXM has a really bad look for WXB and i have no confidence in his playful acting after ROCH. I'm kind of sick of DOMD anyway, because it's never been a favourite of mine and Huang Xiao Ming just looks soo unnatural in the role of WXB.
