    I've oftened heard his later works compared with pornography. Is it really that bad?

    did you know, the kung fu genre (in film, 70s) is closest to the porn industry in the way titles are mass produced?

    True about Huang Yi, heh.

    But nevertheless I think the works of either of them are still far from being outright pornographic. Most of it can be attributed to having to satisfy a certain aethestic style, and the language is rather euphemic and literary, even if only literary in the sense that the tradition of pornographic writing is no less old than wuxia. The presence of graphic passages certainly shouldn't deter from reading the novels and forming an opinion based on the whole of it.

    Considering the fact that Wuxia novels are all filled with scenes of people being killed in often gruesome ways, I just find it amusing that people make such a big fuss about a little consensual sex...

    I mean english romance novels lah. Never read chinese romance novels before. But I did ask my friend once whether chinese romance novels also have explicit bed scenes, and she said yes. Sorry, I didn't ask for the book titles, so, can't help u there, Candide.

    I didn't ask for details. So, sorry, dunno. I always assume by 'explicit scenes', it mean those as detailed as the english romance novels. Whether my friend is of the same wavelength as me or not, I don't know.
