Guo Xiang is not a hard role in my opinion. She's a simple young girl who simply loves and worships Yang Gou. She naively belives that if she was born 20 years earlier, she could be XLN. The actor has to be young and pretty/naive looking. But since i only saw the 95 version, it might be a little off from the books.

GX is not naive. on the contrary, she's supposed to inherit her mom's smartness and has more brains thn her siblings and father combined. Her character resembles YG, who behaves somewhat differently from normal ppl and is very stuborn, thats why some ppl were asking why doesnt her dad dote on her (he dotes on her the least amg his kids) since her character is so much like YG, whom he really loves. that's why she also got the nick, "xiao dong xie"( little east heretic) after her grandfather who dotes on her the most amg all his grandchildren. this girl is definitely not simple. she is also lively, cheerful, adorable, young etc and not many young actresses can portray those traits naturally with that touch of purity and freshness of a 16yr old. theresa lee, the actress who played GX in the 95 version made her very likeable and convincing for me, though that smartness wasnt really shown, she looked really young and suitable for the part too and thats amazing, considering she was already 25 thn. GX's smartness is shown more in the earlier chaps of HSDS.

imo, wanyan ping, gongsun lu'er, cheng ying, lu wushuang etc are easier to portray.

That's why I'm so looking forward to the new one. Especailly since i've taken a liking to Liu Yi Fei, too bad she's not going to make a new series anytime soon.

i think u mean GJ. he dotes on GX the least amg his 3 kids, mainly cause some feel that during the time of her birth, alot of trouble was bestowed onto the guo family, such as she being kidnapped by LMC, HR and the rest going thr so much trouble to get her back, GF injuring XLN, YG disappearing for 16yrs etc. GJ somehow thought GX's birth as inauspicious i guess and therefore was always harsh towards her. another thought (in the 95 version) was that GJ was strict and harsh with GX since he regret spoiling GF rotten which led to tons of unhappiness (she chopping off YG's arm, poisioning XLN etc.) and didnt want GX to grow up like her sis. the fact that GX was smart, stuborn, and a little weird by nature (unlike her obedient brother) made GJ all the more furious with her. GX's character resembled YG, and GJ could accept YG's strange behaviour so ppl were wondering why couldn't GJ accept GX's character and love her as much as YG.

i liked the 95 version but yeah the story was accurate but pretty rushed with the miserable 20 episodes. but i thought louis was a good YG and carmen, my fave XLN so far. im looking forward to the latest mainland adaptation mainly cause the storyline'll be much more detailed and accurate, almost like the visual aspect of the novel (LOCH02 had characters' lines right out frm the novel itself), the wonderful scenaries, fighting etc. and the daily doses of mvs is making me all the more impatient for its release.

thanks for the CGI clip crazylife123, pretty cool but a little overdone at some parts, like Qiu QianChi's spitting of seeds. if they're not careful, they might overdo trying to show off brilliant CGIs but in turn neglect the wuxia feel and ruin the atmosphere. however, i thought the CGI for XLN's left-right technique was pretty cool, they did something similar in the 95 version which showed XLN fighting frm both sides w CGIs and i loved it so much.

Seriously, I can't wait for this remake. Same storyline as the past remakes but there a lot of new things to see, listen, feel...meaning watching it on a large plasma tv with surround sounds...LoL
