Are these uncut? I don't like the official TVB VCDs because they're usually cut.

I was told the dubbed-mandarin only version of hong kong chinese tv drama series released on vcds boxsets are targeted to the native mandarin speaking audiences only which its why there was NO dual audio languages version of
its original cantonese language and the added-in dubbed mandarin language.

I think some of ATV's good rare oldies tv drama series productions of some of the 1980's & 1990's are MUCH BETTER THAN recent tvb's drama series.

I think atv does have some good dramas and don't lose out to TVB in terms of quality but lose out to TVB in terms of advertising, marketing & distribution to gain viewership.

I was watching recent tvb dramas and they were quite boring. I would rather watched older productions of TVB & ATV of the 1980's or 1990's because they have much better quality in terms of leading casts & supporting casts, acting, storyline, themesong, appropriate beautifully designed hairstyles & costumes & etc..

Sometimes I wonder why TVB get such high ratings & viewership even when they produced whatever quality dramas----mediocre drama, good drama, bad dramas always get good high ratings. NOT all of TVB's dramas are good and NOT most of them were good.

TVB knows how to advertised their product & distributed their products. ATV should learn how to advertised & marketed its own good products like TVB do.

It seem like all TVB drama tv series VCD boxsets have this pamplet leaflet llisting all the tvb released drama vcd boxsets and in the beginning of every VCD disc, there are always advertising-- telling consumers/viewers to watch their other released tv dramas released on vcd boxsets and in some VCD discs, during the middle of the duration of the VCD disc, there are artists introducing themselves telling viewers to watch other TVB tv dramas released on vcds boxsets.

ATV drama tv series VCD boxsets don't come with a pamplet leaflet listing all of ATV released vcds boxsets and does NOT advertised its other released dramas on VCDs boxsets and does NOT tell its consumers/viewers to please watch other released dramas on vcds boxsets.

Also, video retailers specially advertised "TVB" drama tv series products at the front webpage while other productions such as ATV are at the backstage--only to be view through a searched section under "ATV".

and also video stores usually carry TVB drama tv series and not ATV or other productions.

    what do you think??

You can email asian video stores such as yesasia.com , malmusic.com & sensasian.com and etc.. to tried to request it. I have tried asking them for it but they don't have it and its not release yet.

are you referring atv's the silver tycoon starring felix wong yat wah, margie tsang wah sin, erica choi yiu yee, kong wah, jackie lui chung yin & christine ng wing mei?

atv's 'THE SILVER TYCOON' its already release on vcds boxset.

or are you referring atv's 'XXX, tycoon' starring carina lau ka ling, alex fong, michael to tai yu?? that one is also released on vcds boxset.

I am searching for the following could-be good rare oldies atv drama tv series of the 1980's & 1990's released on vcds boxset in its original cantonese audio language or in dual audio languages:

    1. THE UNEXPLAINABLE MYSTERY
    2. THE GREEN DRAGON CONSPIRACY
    3. THE RISE & FALL OF QING DYNASTY (SEQUEL)---BLOODSHED IN THE FORBIDDEN CITY
    4. THE FOUR DETECTIVES
    5. THE WATER LEGEND
    6. CHRONICLES OF THE SHADOW SWORDSMAN

No, I mean movie tycoon, starring Simon yam, Kwong wah, Jackie Lui., not that showbiz tycoon starring michael tao.

I have silver tycoon, starring felix wong, margie tsang, kwon wah etc. myself and in fact it's one of my favorite ATV series if you don't count the last 1/3 part of this series and the ending!

I haven't watched it, but my mum recommends it highly! it's about a poor honest guy with principles, who comes from the country to the city to make a living, he goes through hell, gets rich, gets poor again, and rich again by bad means (he gives into to the power of money and status). And then he dies lonely or something.

Leslie plays a small part in it, but I don't know what, but my mum says his character is a weak guy and he did a good job on it.

She forgot who was the main guy, but most of the people are in "Fatherland".

'Incurable Traits' is a TVB series. U should look for it in TVB section. Honestly, IT is only a average series. As always TVB buthered the original history. But that is OK, if they made a very interesting storyline. But they did not.

'The Burning Rain' is good. Anyone who wants to see Esther Kwan play a villain should watch this series. But she's not those true blue villain that is all out evil. She's more ambiguous type where some viewers will hate her, but others will sympathised with her.
