Don't have to ask. The matching between Andy Lau and Tony Leung in 1985 version was perfect. Tony Leung was good in this funny role.

How many episodes is the '85 version? I have the official VCDs and was wondering how badly they are cut..

I definately like the 85 version better because of Andy and Tony. They are both wonderful actors. I loved the chemistry they had together.

The 98 version was okay. It's one of TVB's better remakes. I really enjoyed the supporting cast, they were hilarious. The supporting cast was the reason that kept me watching. I didn't quite like Jordan Chan and Steven Ma. They didn't share that same chemistry that Tony and Andy had and didn't even fit their roles either. I did feel that the storyline in this version was easier to follow than the 85 one.

As for the 00 version with Dicky, I only watched the first few episodes and found it really annoying. I didn't like how they changed the storyline and some scenes were just too overdramatic.

i personally like the 98 version more as i think Jordan Chan is more compatible as Wai Siu Bo, which is not supposed be to handsome. Although his wives in this version is not that pretty, Noel Leung as Ah-Or is great! I also enjoy its main theme song as it is very catchy

i hate the 2000 version as the main plot is butchered. It's such a disrespect to the original novel & Jin Yong!

Without a doubt, the 1985 version with Tony Leung and Andy Lau. They define "chemistry." the other two versions, Jordan Chan-Steven Ma, and Dicky Cheung-Patrick Tam don't even come close.

They are both good in their ways. The chemistry between Tony is Andy is the most memorable. Not that Jordan and Steven weren't good, but it just seems so compared to Tony and Andy.

But the supporting cast from '98 was much better than that of '84.

the 1985 version is better. 1998 was okay. but i do not like the 2000 version with dicky cheung. the storyline was completely different and i didn't like that. it's hard to bet andy and tony's performance. and the whole cast was amazing.

    no doubts, it's definately 1985!

Tony Leung = best WSB ever. other WSBs didn't have the witty look and act to them, they just somehow...annoying. and yes the chemistry between Andy and Tony were great...and the chemistry between them still great when they're in the same movies now

who can beat the unforgettable supporting cast of 83', let alone the leads Andy and Tony? DOMD 83' is a classic.

I have not watched Tony and Andy's version. But i did watched Jordan's and Dicky's ones. I think i still like Jordan's version maybe becoz when i watch it, it's in cantonese while Dicky's one is in mandarin. Make quite a lot of difference...

Nahh.. though I liked it.. it ran away to much from the story.

    <spoilers>

Siu Po was supposed to be a coward... but what's he doing with a sword there killing all the soldiers?
Siu Po doesn't have powerful kungfu at all.. he never developed them.
IIRC, Princess Kin Leng never died.
    There're still a few.. but, I don't wanna type them out(lazy )..

The thing is... Dick's version is too unreal.. and runs too much away from the original story.

I liked Andy Lau/Tony Leung and Steven Ma/Jordan Chan's versions equally
