Default Vivian Chen De Rong (the often underrated actress)

I tried to find some threads on this Taiwanese actress Vivian Chen De Rong, but couldn't find any. So I thought I'd start one. I know Vivian is often underrated, but she is still considered very pretty and cute by some. Also, she can act. Her biggest mistake was leaving Qiong Yao's production, IMO. Was wondering if anyone else here has any other cute pictures of Vivian? Thanks.

I find the most annoying's role done by her was in Legendary siblings with Jimmy Lin and Alec Su. All she did throughout the series was cry, weep, whine, and play with the hearts of the brothers. That role made me hate her. Although I did like her in that Plum Blossom tattoo series by QY with Steve Ma Jing Tao.

    I don't think she's underrated.

i don't really like her in Taiwanese soap dramas as they can't continue the story without crying and weeping!

I also note that her lips are kinda strange...

The title was "Jiang Hu Xiao Ze". Vincent Jiao was also cast in this series.

I thought she was ok in "Canh Mai Diem Tuyet" (i have NO idea what the chinese title of it is hehe. nor the name of the co-stars. lol. this movie was a few years back-- never pay much attention to it so i dont' know lol).
oh yea... wait.. i'm rmembering a lil now, she was with that one guy umm zhang wen zhou(?) is that how u spell it? the guy that plays wong fei hong (after jet li). yea, she was in there w/ him, and she was a poor girl, with a tatoo of some lil flower on her back.... he's the village leader/mayor and wat not, it's one of those forbidden love kinda thing. oh yea, rebecca wang yang was in there too. she played the sick wife who always have that horrible cough to that guy... blah blahh blah ehehhe --- so much for being descriptive. but anyways it was a while back. she was alright in that movie

BUT I HATE HER CHARACTER in legendary siblings! it was incredibly annoying!

I think you got her mixed up with Shui Ling. Vivian wasn't in "Xin Yi Jian Mei" with Zhao Wen Zhuo. That was Shui Ling. She played dual roles, both as the lover/wife and daughter Zhao Wen Zhuo's character.

Are either of them married? I know Steve Ma Jing Tao is like 43 or 44 years old already. They've been costaring in many series together for years.

He's only 43??! Eeps, he has more wrinkles than my dad!!!

But hmm, I don't think she was underrated in her day, wasn't she quite popular back in the 1990s? She's just getting older--and losing the eye candy touch for some people I suppose.

The wrinkles must be due to the tanning, notice how he's darker than Vivian? He and Louis Koo goes through too many tanning, the effects of repeated tanning is beginning to show. They look older than they should I suppose.

I dun think she was underrated at all.
She had her fame during the 90s filming Qiong Yao's serials.
And with the entertainment industry popping out newcomers faster than we can handle, it's hard for older actresses to stand firm except for a few master lvl. eg. Gong Li, Maggie Cheung

Here's a clip of an interview with both Steve Ma and Vivian. Steve also answers the question about working with FBB and whether there was any attraction going on....

Thank you NarutoSakura for posting these lovely pictures of Viv (and Steve)!! I love her and Steve together so much. As sappy and they were in Qiong Yao's Tatooed Flower, I still love them.

Here's a website with many more pictures of her.

She's very beautiful and talented. Although, I prefer her in modern/romance drama over wuxia. (I really didn't like her role in Legendary Siblings. She looked out of place standing next to Jimmy Lin or kissing Alec Su). She's better off with Steve.

Thanks for the website, Li Nhi.

She looks so innocent and young here:

For modern/romance drama, I like her in "Ai Shang Pi Zi Nan" (Love Goal) with Bobby Dou Zhi Khong. I think that was Bobby's break out role. However, I didn't really like Yi Lian You Meng. She was good in it, but the script was awful.

I think I saw that series with Shui Ling. I really liked it, but I never got to finish it. What was the Vietnamese&English title to it?

I really Vivian. He character in Legendary Sibling's didn't bother me that much, but I do agree that she looks WAY better with Steve Ma. The character that I actually didn't like her playing was Yue Ling Shan in State Of Divinity 2000 (starring Richie Ren). She annoyed the heck out of me, and I thought she was a B***H in it.

My favorite series she was in has got to be Tai Zu Mi Shi with Steve Ma.

Is THE TATTOOED FLOWER worth watching? I haven't seen it, but I would like to just because i'm a fan of Vivian and Steve as a couple.
