Eps 1

Meng Lijun is both smart and well versed in martial arts. To show her skills, she decided to disguise herself as a man to take part in a local competition. However, her father Meng Shiyuan unexpectedly wanted her to accompany him to the hills to collect herbs on the day of the competition. To excuse herself from his company, Lijun asked Shiyuan to solve an extremely difficult chess puzzle while she slipped off for the competition.

Lijun tricked the others into letting her substitute her brother for the competition and helped Dongyue School win. Tie Mu’er and Marco Polo happened to be attracted by the competition and he gave a difficult maths question to test Lijun and she managed to win. Shuyuan punished Lijun by making her stay in her room for tricking him. That night, Lijun was enchanted by the faraway music from a flute.

Using a chess book as bait, Lijun managed to persuade her father to let her attend the town celebrations. At the celebration, Huangpu Shaohua saw a bully Liu Kuibi bullying a pair of performing siblings and taught him a lesson. Lijun wanted to play a trick on Tie Mu’er and snatched his jade in the chaos but Tie Mu’er’s servant, Asang-ge mistook Shaohua to be the thief. Lijun was upset that Tie Mu’er thought of her as a thief so when he came to look for Shiyuan, she identified herself as Shiyuan’s nephew, ‘Wei Ziying’ and made a fool out of him.


Eps 2

Lijun tricked Tier Mu’er into going with her to Baiyun Hill to find Shiyuan, with the intention of making fun of him but her plan backfired and she ended up falling into the mud herself. As Tie Mu’er wanted to seek Shiyuan’s (who used to be an imperial physician during the previous dynasty) help in getting a cure for his asthmatic father, he agreed to Lijun’s demands to book a whole restaurant to apologise to her. However, this offended Liu Kuibi, who wanted to book the same restaurant as well. While his men were fighting, Kuibi tried to secretly attack Lijun but Tie Mu’er helped her. Lijun’s heart began beating wildly when she fell into his arms in the process. When Kuibi’s mother found out about his fight with the Mongolians, she advised him not to antagonize the Mongolians or his father Liu would blame him of he finds out.

Lijun changed her initial impression of Tie Mu’er and her maid Ronglan made fun of her. Shiyuan believed Lijun’s words and went to the hills to look for a certain herb. Lijun then found a ploy to excuse herself from accompanying her mother to the temple and went to enjoy herself while her parents are not in. Lijun bumped into Tie Mu’er at the lantern festival but Shaohua unexpectedly appeared. To prevent the jade incident from being exposed, Lijun turned around to leave. Shaohua and Tie Mu’er were attacked by Kuibi’s men and Lijun returned to help them as she felt that the whole incident was caused by her. Tie, Shaohua, Lijun and Marco Polo then went for a drinking session and became sworn brothers. The drunk Lijun revealed that she is actually a girl but no one paid heed to her. Lijun suddenly heard the flute being played and went to look for the source of the music. She mistakenly thought that Tie is the flutist and took a liking for him.

Kuibi was teasing a girl who was going to become a nun at the temple and later met Lijun’s maid Yingxue at the temple. He was attracted by her but mistook her to be Lijun. Shaohua was playing chess with Tie and Lijun felt that he should not have admitted defeat so easily. She took over the game and managed to win with her brilliant chess skills.

Eps 3

While boating with Tie, Lijun was espousing the view that Mongolians and Hans should be a family and her views enlightened Tie. Tie remembered Lijun revealing that she is a girl when she was drunk and tried various ways to test her. Shiyuan’s old friend Huangpu Jing came from afar and invited him for a drink and brought up the marriage agreement they had discussed years ago. He asked for Lijun’s hand in marriage on behalf of his son and Shiyuan agreed without hesitation. Shiyuan then saw Lijun, who was dressed up as a man, together with Tie and was furious but had to restrain his temper in public. Lijun hurried home and denied that she was out in disguise. She later had an argument with Shiyuan that it should not matter what race her friends are.

Shiyuan decided to ask Huangpu Jing and son to stay in his home but Lijun felt that he is inviting wolves into the den. Lijun was unaware that Shaohua is actually her ‘3rd brother’ as he had called himself Wang Shigang then. She only remembered the young Shaohua, and was relating to Yingxue and Ronglan how he had offended her then. Shaohua, on the other hand, had fond memories of the incident.

Tie approached Shiyuan again for the cure but Shiyuan refused to help a Mongolian. Lijun tried to help and in the process, Shiyuan found out how she managed to sneak out of the house through a hole in the wall. That night, Shaohua was moved when he heard Lijun play the zither. Shaohua volunteered to mend the hole in the wall for Shiyuan, thus infuriating Lijun further.

With Lijun’s guidance, Tie finally managed to convince Shiyuan into giving him the cure. Shiyuan was unhappy when he found out that Lijun had planned the whole thing. Kuibi’s request for Lijun’s hand in marriage was rejected by the Meng family and he persuaded his father to help him get back at them. Liu invited Shiyuan to their manor and forced him to organize a duel, where the winner will have Lijun’s hand.


Eps 4

Lijun had no intention of marrying either Shaohua or Kuibi and had nightmares about the matter. She went with her mother to the temple to pray for her marriage but had other plans in mind. Shaohua followed Lijun’s brother, Ziru to purchase necessities for the wedding and met Tie and his men. Marco Polo was excited about the attending wedding and Shaohua told them about the duel and the reason he did not reveal his real name previously. Lijun sent a letter to Tie, asking him to meet her near the temple as she wanted to express her feelings for him. However, Shaohua turned up instead and she found out that Tie had to return to Dadu on urgent matters.

Shiyuan was frustrated about the duel and went to look for Lijun to play chess, and at the same time find out her intentions. During the duel, Shaohua was slightly better in his skills but after 2 rounds, it was still a draw. Liu’s final task to them was to retrieve a purple robe from outside the city, with the intention of waylaying Shaohua on the way. Luckily, Shaohua was alert enough and defeated Kuibi. Yingxue rushed to inform Lijun of the results and complimented Shaohua for his skills and good looks but Lijun insisted on running away from home with Ronglan. The 3 girls parted reluctantly.

When Shiyuan found out about Lijun’s disappearance, he is at a loss as to how he should explain to Huangpu Jing, so he decided to keep the matter under wraps for the time being while ordering Ziru to secretly look for Lijun. Shiyuan lied that Lijun has caught the flu and therefore the wedding would have to be postponed. While buying a jade bangle for Lijun, Shaohua and Kuini’s sister, Yanyu, both took a liking to the same bangle. Shaohua let her have the bangle and Yanyu was attracted by his charisma. Kuibi later looked for Shaohua and knelt down, apologizing and asking to be taken in as his disciple. He later pretended to be drunk and invited Shaohua home with the excuse that he wanted to discuss martial arts and the unsuspecting Shaohua followed him home.

Eps 5

Yanyu was perplexed why Kuibi would be with Shaohua and tried to save him when she found out that he is in danger. Kuibi ordered his men to search Yanyu’s room and Yanyu gave the excuse that she have changed into her bed clothes so that the men would not search her bed. Yanyu knows that Kuibi will not give up and decided to complain to her father first that Kuibi had bought men to search her room. Liu was worried that Shaohua would report to the authorities and decided to get rid of him. Yingxue took Shaohua to the temple to find Lijun and discuss a way to save Huangpu Jing. Unfortunately, Lijun just left and Yingxue had no choice but to let Shaohua hide at the temple for the time being.

Huangpu Jing was accused of trying to overthrow the empire and the official tried to beat a confession out of him. Yanyu went to visit him in jail but Huangpu Jing was rude to her when he found out that she is Liu’s daughter. However, he later realized that he had misunderstood her. Shaohua broke into jail to save his father but fell into Kuibi’s trap. Yanyu pretended to be taken hostage by Shaohua, thus helping him escape. Shaohua decided to go to Junlin Toen to find his father’s friends for help and was grateful when Yingxue gave him money for his journey.

After leaving the temple, Lijun and Ronglan were enjoying a feast in a town when she overheard that Dadu is a bustling city. She suddenly thought of Tie and decided to go to Dadu. When Tie returned to the Palace, his father Zhenjin is already critically ill. It turned out that the Khan (Kublai Khan) was biased against Han doctors and chased all the doctors away, delaying Zhenjin’s treatment. By the time Tie returned with the cure, it was too late. Kublai claimed that han medicine had killed his son and his relationship with Tie became strained. Marco Polo consoled Tie, and at the same time told him that he will be returning to his home country.


Eps 6

Princess Kuozhen, who grew up with Tie, knew that he is feeling low after falling out with Kublai over his father’s death and consoled him. Advisor Boyan had an argument with Huge Chi, who was in charge of the military, in front of Kublai over transferring funds to help the subjects affected by the flood. Kublai was annoyed by their bickering and ordered them to see him only when they have found a solution.

Lijun and Ronglan met 4 down and out bandits and after beating the bandits to a pulp, the bandit queen Yonger appeared and defeated Lijun. Lijun and Ronglan was broght back to the stockade and the bandits told them that they were descendants of the water margin heroes. They tried to search Lijun and Ronglan for money and Lijun hastily claimed to be from a rich family and if they are treated well, she will write to her father to send money.

Kuozhen prepared some Han snacks for Kublai so that he will not be so biased against the Hans. Lijun drew a portrait of Yonger, and Yonger became besotted with her. To repair the strained relations, Kublai invited Tie for chess. Tie was grateful for Kuozhen’s help and gave her a jade flute to express his thanks. When Kuozhen asked Tie whether Mongolian or Han girls are prettier, Tie suddenly thought of Lijun.

Yonger tried to dress up to impress Lijun but scared everyone instead. Lijun wanted to exchange rooms with Yonger as there were cockroaches in her room but Yonger misunderstood Lijun’s intentions and made a fool of herself instead. Yonger blamed herself for the lack of finances in the stockade and Lijun presented a plan to help them tide over. Shaohua finally found his father’s old friends but on seeing their advanced age, decided not to ask them for help. Tie suggested that Kublai tour around Jiangnan but Kublai instead misses his days on the wide meadows.

Eps 7

Huge Chi transferred the funds for the flood victims to the army without approval and Boyan got into an argument with him. The straightforward Tie pointed out that Huge Chi is wrong and Huge Chi tried to change the subject by asking when Kublai will announce the new crown prince since Zhenjin had passed on.

To help the bandits in their finances, Lijun suggested that they try to capture wanted criminals so that they can collect the reward from the court. However, the bandits found Shaohua and tried to trick him when they found out his is a wanted man. On seeing that the bandits had brought along her 3rd brother ‘Wang Shigang’ she tried to save him and both of them fell into a pit instead. Shaohua related how he became a wanted criminal after offending Kuibi because of the duel and Lijun gave him a slap after suddenly realizing that the person in front of her is Huangpu Shaohua.

Ronglan thought that they would be able to go home once Lijun and Shaohua revealed their respetive identities but Lijun insisted on keeping her identity secret. Kuibi carried tales in front of Liu, saying that Shiyuan was spreading rumours and the furious Liu decided to execute Huangpu Jing. Shiyuan wanted to go to Jiangnan to seek redress for his good friend and became anxious when he found out about the impending execution. Shaohua was treated well by the bandits as his father had helped them in the past. Ronglan was unsuccessful in persuading Lijun to accept Shaohua. Lijun tried to test where she stands in Shaohua’s heart and almost revealed her identity when she found out that he thought highly of his fiancée. She told Shaohua that she is Lijun’s ‘cousin’ and that she and Lijun had feelings for each other, hoping that this would make Shaohua give up.

Ziru was captured when he tried to save Huangpu Jing and Kuibi used this to threaten Shiyuan. The bandits planned to rescue Huangpu Jing at the execution ground. Lijun had a feeling that this would be a dangerous plan and ordered Ronglan to return home and at the same time made her promise not to reveal her whereabouts. As he did not want Lijun to be in danger, he arranged her to be the back up. Before they set off, Yonger shyly gave Lijun a talisman as a token of love.


Eps 8

Shiyuan wanted to go to the execution ground to send Huangpu Jing on oh his last journey but his wife forbid both him and Ziru from going to the execution ground. Yingxue tricked Ronglan into revealing Lijun’s whereabouts and Ziru overheard their conversation. Lijun was unable to find a horse carriage as the getaway vehicle and tried using Tie’s jade pendant to get a horse. She was surprised that the jade could help her and became curious about Tie’s real identity. Lijun disregarded the danger and decided to go to the execution ground to help the rest. However, they were no match for the soldiers and Lijun was wounded in the process. Suddenly a man in black appeared in the nick of time to save Huangpu Jing and the rest retreated safely.

The man in black, Wen Jindong, is an old friend of Huangpu Jing. He brought them to see the disposed Song Emperor. The young Emperor expressed weariness when he found out that they have to be on the move again and commented that he would rather lead an ordinary life than become an emperor.

Kublai agreed with Tie’s suggestions to sign a peace treaty with Korea. Huge Chi was unhappy when the Korean prince expressed doubts about Tie’s status, so Kublai conferred the title of Prince Yuanqin to Tie. The furious Huge Chi returned to his palace and his wife Gemi Si consoled him.

Lijun made Ziru swear not to reveal that she is a girl in disguise and he reluctantly agreed. Lijun’s wound became infected and she fainted in the room. Shaohua happened to walk past and he helped her up, and at the same time tended to her wound. Yonger treated Lijun extremely well and kept calling her ‘Dear’. The frightened Lijun decided to think of a plan to shake Yonger off her tail. She failed to pair up Yonger and Ziru, and decided to change her target to Shaohua instead.

Eps 9

Lijun suggested that Jindong accept Yonger as his disciple as well when he decided to have Shaohua as his disciple. During the celebrations, Lijun and Ziru tried to intoxicate Shaohua and Yonger, hoping to trick them into spending the night in the same room. However, when Lijun woke up, she found Shaohua sleeping next to her instead and scolded the clueless Shaohua for taking advantage of her. After a while, they heard Ziru’s screams. It turns out that he had accidentally spent the night in Yonger’s room. Lijun decided to bring the 2 together. Ziru is aware that Lijun misses Tie as she did not want to marry Shaohua.

Huge Chi’s attempts to assassinate the Korean Prince failed and lashed out at his man, Ba. The treaty was a success and Kublai wanted Huge Chi to investigate the assassination attempt and Huge Chi pushed the blame to the supporters of the previous Song Dynasty. Lijun and Ziru were stopped by Jindong when they wanted to leave the stockade.

Kublai decided to appoint Tie as the Crown Prince and Huge Chi was unsuccessful in dissuading him. Kublai fell sick and misses the Empress Emei Ge, so Tie decided to ask Kuozhen to look after Kublai while he search for Emei Ge in Jiangnan. Gemi Si, on seeing that Huge Chi was upset, advised him to take a rest in Jiangnan.

The bandits misunderstood Ziru’s words and thought that Lijun is a gay, so they advised Shaohua to be careful. Lijun and Ziru tried to escape again but fell off the tree in a tangle. Shaohua happened to see them holding each other and believed the bandits’ words. As Ziru is now a wanted criminal, Kuibi threatened Shiyuan to marry Lijun to him and sent his men to guard their house. Yingxue knows that Kuibi had mistaken her to be Lijun and after much consideration, begged Shiyuan to marry her off in Lijun’s place.


Eps 10

On the pretext of buying bird’s nest for Lijun, Ronglan escaped to the stockade to beg Lijun for help. Shaohua, Lijun etc tried to leave the stockade but Jindong stopped them as he felt that they would bring danger to the emperor. They tried to sneak away again when Jindong suddenly appeared. The furious Lijun scolded him and he unexpectedly praised her instead. He also gave Shaohua a precious sword and sent them on their way. Kuibi suddenly brought forward the wedding date. Yingxue happened to find out that Shiyuan planned to handle Kuibi by himself and she came to a decision.

Kuibi arrived at the Meng’s house to demand for his bride and Shiyuan tried to fend them off with a sword but failed. Yingxue stepped out and bid her ‘parents’ farewell, thanking them for looking after her and stepped into the bridal sedan. Lijun, Ziru, Shaohua and Yonger sneaked into the Liu’s Manor to save Yingxue and met Yanyu, who told them where Yingxue was being kept. Kuibi revealed to Yingxue that he only married her to out of revenge and he will send her to the brothel after their wedding night. Yingxue fought and injured him.

When Lijun and party arrived, they heard that Yingxue had committed suicide by jumping into the river and tried to help find the body but all they could find was her shoes. Kuibi was furious while his mother was worried that Shiyuan would pursue the matter. Shaohua was upset when he thought that ‘Lijun’ had died and took out the jade bangle he had wanted to give her, expressing his feelings for her. Lijun was touched. Kuibi accused Shiyuan of instigating his daughter to murder him and Kuibi was taken to court for further questioning. Shaohua attempted to save Shiyuan and Kuibi tried to capture him.

Eps 11

Shaohua held Kuibi hostage, demanding that he release Shiyuan. Yanyu appeared and begged him not to kill Kuibi. Kuibi took the opportunity to use Yanyu as his shield and forced Shaohua to retreat. Lijun, who was viewing from afar, was furious. Lijun and gang disguised themselves to go into the city to find out about Shiyuan’s news and was almost checked by the soldiers. Luckily Yanyu appeared and helped them out of their predicament and let them stay at her deceased mother’s old house. Lijun tricked the soldiers and took the opportunity to communicate with Ronglan and visited her mother with Ziru that night in disguise.

In court, Shiyuan in turn sued Kuibi but the corrupt Magistrate ignored him and pronounced him guilty instead. This caused at uproar among the villagers and the Magistrate had no choice but to lock Shiyuan up for the time being and postpone the hearing. While trying to visit Shiyuan, Lijun bumped into Kuibi and she pretended to be ‘Wei Ziying’, a debtor. Kuibi was afraid of offending the Mongolians and let her in. Shiyuan refused to escape as it would mean that he is guilty. Lijun saw that some fellow inmates received good treatment as they had connections with Mongolians and suggested seeking help from Tie but Shiyuan refused any help from Mongolians. However, he asked her to go to Dadu to look for his old friend for help.
Lijun showed Tie’s jade pendant to the Magistrate and upon seeing the pandent, the Magistrate became very courteous and promised he will hear Shiyuan’s case fairly. Shaohua and Lijun decided to head to Dadu to find Shiyuan’s old friend. Lijun’s mother gave Shaohua a portrait of Lijun as a memento and tried to hint to him that the person in the painting is actually right in front of him but the dense Shaohua did not understand. Kuibi was being threatened and he accidentally saw the note given to Yanyu by Shaohua and vented his frustrations on her. While bathing at the lake, Lijun heard the music from the flute again and was elated, thinking that Tie is nearby.


Eps 12

Lijun tried to look for the source of the music but could not find anyone. Ronglan suspected that the flutist could be Shaohua but unfortunately, Shaohua accidentally dropped his flute while Lijun felt that he could not have played such a melodious tune. Yanyu ran away from home to look for her father in Dadu when Kuibi decided to marry her off to an old man. Kuibi was afraid that she would complain to their father and hurriedly made his way to the capital as well. Yonger and Ziru returned to the stockade and was happy to find out that under Jindong’s guidance, they have started an eating place and business was brisk. There was a sudden summon for Shiyuan to go to the palace to treat Kublai. Magistrate Hu suddenly became very nice to Shiyuan.

Yingxue was saved by Huge Chi’s passing boat and woke up after being unconscious for several days. To avoid implicating the Meng family, she called herself Suyun, and lied to Gemi Si that she was forced into marriage by her gambler father. To repay them for saving her life, she is willing to work as their slave but Huge Chi was biased against Hans as he felt his daughter’s death was caused by a Han, he told Yingxue to leave once the boat docked. Gemi Si fell ill and Yingxue used her only gold bangle to exchange for medicine for her and Gemi Si was touched when she found out. Huge Chi saw that Gemi Si and Yingxue were on good terms and he returned the gold bangle to Yingxue, hinting that he will allow her to stay.

Ziru received a letter from Shiyuan and thought that there must be another reason why Shiyuan would go to the capital and decided to head there to investigate. Lijun, Shaohua and Ronglan used up their money and sneaked up an artiste troupe’s boat to cross the river. To avoid being found out, Lijun and Shaohua was forced to spend the night together in a box and it created some awkwardness. The troupe members found Lijun and group and she cooked up a story to gain their sympathy. The troupe leader agreed to let her stay after hearing her story. The gay Huadan Ying tried to make passes at the frightened Shouhua and Shaohua was at a loss when Huadan Ying said that Shaohua likes Lijun.

Eps 13

Lijun arrived at Changzhou and was ecstatic to meet Tie. Tie suddenly received news of the Empress’s whereabouts and had to leave, but not before arranging to meet Lijun that night. From the information given by the banker, Tie estimated that the Empress will turn up at a bank soon, so he arranged for his men to monitor the banks in the area. Huadan Ying accidentally ate some yam bought by Lijun, which he is allergic to and could not perform. The troupe leader wants Lijun to stand in as a last resort. Everyone was surprised when Lijun appeared in costume as Madam Bai, and Shaohua thought that she bears a close resemblance to the Lijun in the portrait.

Lijun acted as Mdm Bai and was widely applauded. However, a local bully, who has a liking for men, took an interest in Lijun and set up a banquet for the troupe. Lijun refused to attend the banquet and was kidnapped by the bully’s men. Shaohua rushed to her rescue but was injured. Luckily Ronglan went to inform Tie and he managed to save them in time. Lijun was grateful when she found out that Shaohua was injured while saving her and tended to his injuries. Tie saw her caring for Shaohua and felt a tinge of jealousy. From their conversation, he knows that Shaohua is still unaware that Lijun is a girl.

Shaohua admitted to Tie that he has feelings for their ‘4th brother’. Tie pointed out that Shaohua is treating ‘4th brother’ as Lijun’s substitute and advised him to stay away from Lijun for the time being. Shaohua took his advice and left without a word to Dadu. On the way, he met Yanyu, who was being robbed and saved her. Yanyu was grateful and invited him to travel with her so that they can look after each other. Lijun asked Tie to play a tune on the flute. However, he did not have a flute with him but to make her happy, he used his hands to play a tune instead.


Eps 14

Tie tried to test Lijun, asking her if she has any sisters or female cousins, hinting that they could become closer by marriage. Magistrate Hu accompanied Shiyuan, his wife, son and Yonger to Dadu and complained about the expenses made by the large group. Tie and Lijun arrived at Yangzhou. Tie was overjoyed when he learned that the Empress had gone to withdraw money at the bank and also deposited a bag there.

While shopping at the market, Lijun and Ronglan saw the Empress being cheated at a gambling table and helped her win back her money. She also advised the Empress to give up gambling. Suddenly, the men from the gambling den came seeking revenge but were badly beaten by Lijun. To replay Lijun, the Empress invited her for a drink at a brothel and Lijun was uneasy. It turns out that the Empress has other plans. Tie was confused when he found the drunk Lijun returning from a brothel. Lijun again failed when she tried to tell Tie that she is a girl. Ronglan advised her to create an opportunity to tell him but as Tie had to leave die to pressing matters, he asked Lijun to meet him at the western part of town.

Tie advised the Empress to return to the capital and when they found out that Kublai is critically ill, they hurriedly made their way to the capital. Tie asked Asang Ge to pass a letter to Lijun but Asang Ge asked Shaohua to help pass the letter when they happened to meet. Shaohua made his way to the western part of town and was shocked to see Lijun in a girl’s clothing. Although Lijun pretended that she wants to let Tie see her in her ‘acting costume’, Shaohua still suspects that she is actually a girl. Shaohua deduced that Lijun and Tie liked each other and told himself not to let his thoughts run wild. Yanyu sprained her ankle and the passing Lijun chanced upon Shaohua helping Yanyu apply medication and was unhappy. Huuge Chi returned to Dadu when he heard about Kublai’s illness.

Eps 15

Yingxue wanted to leave as she thought that Huge Chi does not like her but he told her that Gemi Si needs someone to look after her and told Yingxue to follow them back to Dadu. Yingxue was glad that he has finally accepted her. Kublai’s illness was getting worse and he felt that his days are numbered. Kuozhen tried to console him and luckily, Kublai felt better when Tie and the Empress returned in time. Shiyuan and his wife both treated Yonger as their future daughter-in-law. The shocked Ziru and Yonger tried to explain but no one paid any heed to them.

Kublai and the Empress tried to pair off Tie and Kuozhen. Kublai could see that Tie was troubled by the arrangement and warned him not to marry a girl from another race. Shaohua saved a girl who was committing suicide and gave her some advice. Lijun was impressed and changed her impression of him. Shaohua caught a cold and Lijun boiled medicine for him. However, when she found out that Yanyu is also boiling medicine for Shaohua, she pretended that she is making medicine for Ronglan. Lijun was unable to sleep and when she heard music from the flute, she thought Tie is near. She was stunned when she realized that the flutist is Shaohua. Shaohua was baffled by Lijun’s huge reaction.

Boyan suggested transferring funds from the building of the temple to the flood areas but Tie was concerned that this will lead to another argument with Huge Chi, so he sought the Chief Abbot’s views on the matter. The Abbot claimed that any delay on the building of the temple will result in serious consequences. Shaohua saw a poor girl with her sick mother. The girl was selling herself to raise money to bury her father. Shaohua and Yanyu gave her their money and helped her mend her house and cook medicine for her mother. Lijun’s opinion of him improved. Lijun was again attracted by the music from the flute and Ronglan finally realized that the flutist who caught Lijun’s heart is actually Shaohua.


Eps 16

Kublai felt that his days are numbered and asked Tie to fulfill his last wish, which is to see him marry Kuozhen within 5 days and Tie agreed. Lijun, Shaohua etc arrived at Dezhou. As they have run out of money, Shaohua went to look for work at an inn to earn some money while Lijun helped to write their menus. As there was nothing for Yanyu and Ronglan to do, they decided to head to the Kuanyin Temple, whom they overheard was very good, to pray for their marriages. However, they accidentally exchanged their blessed pouches.

On Tie’s wedding day, the happy Kublai insisted on drinking. Asang Ge escorted Tie to the bridal chamber. On the pretext of enjoying the wine with Kuozhen, Tie made her drunk so that he need not consummate the marriage. The next day, Keozhen did not even question why he spent the night in the study but accompanied him to pay their respects to Kublai. However, Kublai had died in his sleep. Huge Chi returned too late and he was so emotional that he demanded that the coffin be opened. The Empress scolded him for being unfilial and chased him out of the chamber.

In his anger, Huge Chi announced that he will not send Kublai’s remains to the desert and Gemi Si was concerned when she could not change his mind. At the risk of being punished, Yingxue went to look for Huge Chi and using an example from her past, advised him to change his mind or he will regret his decision in future. The Empress was fretting who should send Kublai’s remains back when Huge Chi appeared and volunteered. Gemi Si started having headaches again and Yingxue suggested that Huge Chi look for Shiyuan to cure her. Before leaving Dadu, Huge Chi instructed Liu to look for Shiyuan. Although it was a difficult task for Liu, he still agreed.

Eps 17

Tie used the excuse of being busy with court matters and neglected Kuozhen. While spending the night in a farm, Lijun insisted on opening Ronglan’s blessed pouch and realized the pouch belongs to Yanyu. Lijun was upset when she found out Yanyu’s interest and became jealous when she saw Yanyu entering Shaohua’s room and giving him a new pair of shoes. Kuozhen saw Tie keeping the zither and pretending to read court documents as soon as he saw her and was depressed as she could not seem to please him.

When the group arrived at Cangzhou, Yanyu was tasked to look after their luggage but she bumped into Kuibi, who forcefully tried to drag her away, claiming that he is going to sell her to a brothel. Luckily Lijun and Shaohua returned in time. Lijun was angry that Shaohua let Kuibi off again for Yanyu’s sake. Shiyuan suddenly felt like playing chess in Cangzhou and while looking for chess masters for Shiyuan, Ziru and Yonger met Lijun and Ronglan. They happily went to look for Shiyuan but realized that Magistrate Hu had left with Shiyuan and wife for Dadu as he was afraid that someone would claim the reward first.

Kuozhen caught a cold but Tie only realized it 3 days later. He went to ask after her but refused to stay behind when Kuozhen begged him not to leave. Lijun arrived at the capital only to find out that Kublai had passed away and is worried that Shiyuan would not be able clear his case since he is no longer of any use. When Jindong learned of Kublai’s death, he decided to bring the Emperor to Dadu to plan a resurrection of the Song Dynasty. Kuibi found his father in Dadu and tried to complain about Yanyu first. Magistrate Hu was dejected when he learned that the summoning of physicians by the imperial palace has been cancelled, and his chances of striking it big are gone. He met Liu, who was secretly pleased when he found out Shiyuan is in Dadu. Lijun wanted to find Shiyuan’s old friend, Li Ruoshan, who is a wealthy man in Dadu for help. Unfortunately, Ruoshan’s properties has been confiscated by the court and he is nowhere to be found. Magistrate Hu lied to Shiyuan that he is needed to treat someone and Shiyuan requested that he wants to bring his wife to a popular restaurant, Zuixian Lou next month.


Eps 18

When Lijun and the rest used up their money, they thought of street performing to raise money but were unsuccessful. Magistrate Hu brought Shiyuan to Liu’s residence, and Liu went up to apologize to him. However, Shiyuan is aware that Liu needs his help and refused to help an evil person like him. The furious Liu then locked him up. Lijun and group were worried that they could not find any place to spend the night when a winery boss agreed to let them spend the night in the shop. The next day, they offered to work at the winery in exchange for food and lodging. The Empress found out that Tie had been neglecting Kuozhen when she returned and made a decision.

Lijun and group were unable to find Ruoshan’s whereabouts and out of desperation, decided to seek Tie’s assistance at the inn but they missed seeing each other. The winery boss dismissed Uncle Shan, who was caught embezzling funds. Lijun later happen to see Uncle Shan being cheated by a crack doctor into buying herbs for his sick son. She could not bear to see him being cheated and offered to treat his son for free. Upon seeing his son showing some improvement, Uncle Shan begged Lijun to continue treating him. When Lijun saw that Uncle Shan’s wife seems to be a bit crazy, she asked about their background and realized that he is Ruoshan, the person they were searching for. It turns that his son Mingtang and Huge Chi’s daughter fell in love but Huge Chi disapproved of their relationship and as a result, his daughter died of heartbreak. The furious Huge Chi then confiscated their property and Mingtang fell sick since then.

Tie told Huge Chi that he has used the funds for the building of the temple to build the bridges at the flood area. Surprisingly, Huge Chi supported his decision and told him that he is glad that Tie respects his feelings. The Empress, Gemi Si and Kuozhen were strolling in the garden when the considerate Huge Chi came and helped Gemi Si put on a coat. Kuozhen felt envious of their loving relationship.

Eps 19

Tie ascended the throne and became the Khan. The Empress advised that he should start having children soon, and not to neglect Kuozhen further. Kuozhen practiced hard on the zither and played a tune for Tie. However, the tune made him think of Lijun instead. Later, he was touched when he found out Kuozhen hurt her fingers while learning to play the zither to please him and he finally spent the night in their room. When Tie found out that Lijun had left him a message at the inn, he hurried there. He suddenly held Lijun’s hands, seeking forgiveness for coming late. The embarrassed Lijun retracted her hand and asked him to help find the whereabouts of Shiyuan. Ronglan tried to find out Tie’s real identity from Asang Ge but without success.

When Tie returned to the palace, he spoke with Kuozhen and the conversation led him to the thought that he can have 2 women in his life. Shaohua sent Yanyu to Liu’s residence in Dadu but she was reluctant to part with him. Liu imprisoned Shiyuan so that he will agree to his demands but Shiyuan would rather die than give in. Yanyu complained to Liu about Kuibi’s misdeeds and ended up arguing with Kuibi. The irritated Liu ordered that the both of them cannot leave the manor. Tie suggested grooming a group of young men into warriors and was unhappy when Huge Chi disagreed. Boyan pointed out that he is willing to help him regain powers in the military.

When Tie learned from Boyan that Shiyuan had returned to his hometown, he relayed the information to Lijun. Ronglan again failed to find out Tie’s identity from Asang Ge. Shaohua bumped into Mrs Meng, who was in a daze and looking for her husband. He brought her back and met Lijun on the way. However, Mrs Meng could not recognize Lijun or Ziru, which worried everyone. Ronglan could see that Lijun was miffed that Shaohua had traveled to Dadu with Yanyu and questioned her who her true love is.


Eps 20

With the pretext of discussing who to send to suppress the rebels, Tie forced Huge Chi to admit that the old generals can no longer go on the battlefield, and should let the younger generation take over their place. Huge Chi unexpectedly volunteer to fight the rebels. Lijun could not contact Tie and Yonger suggested putting up reward notices to find Shiyuan. Tie listened to Boyan’s suggestion to replace the old generals while Hugu Chi is away although he is aware that this will strain their relationship. After Kuozhen fell off a horse, she had a nightmare that Tie will leave her. Tie consoled her.

Tie thought of keeping Lijun as his mistress and invited Lijun to a manor and played the flute for her. However, the music from the flute made her think of Shaohua instead. Tie asked Lijun to stay at the manor. Before she had a chance to ask him help locate Shiyuan’s whereabouts, Tie had to leave to receive the returning Huge Chi. Huge Chi questioned why Tie replaced the old generals and Tie explained that he allowed the generals to retire. Huge Chi was at a loss for words and left in a huff.

With the huge reward given, some hooligans lied that they know Shiyuan’s whereabouts and tricked Shaohua and Lijun into following them into a small lane with the intention of robbing them. Shaohua was knocked on the head and fell unconscious while trying to save Lijun. Lijun became anxious when he did not respond to her and admitted that she is his fiancée. Lijun was overjoyed when Shaohua woke up. He commented that he seemed to remember hearing her say something while he was unconscious but Lijun brushed his comments off. Lijun was unable to sleep that night and woke Ronglan up to talk. Ronglan advised Lijun to be quick when she knew that Lijun has decided to tell Shaohua her real identity.

Eps 21

Tie suggested setting up an imperial exam system to attract Hans so that there will be less rebellions but the ministers objected. Boyan tried his best to support Tie. Shaohua realized that he is beginning to mix Lijun and the girl in the painting up and is afraid that he has fallen in love with his ‘4th brother’. Ruoshan wants Lijun to treat others sothat they can earn some money. Shiyuan went on a hunger strike and fainted. Liu forced him to drink rice water so that he will not die and Yanyu found out that Shiyuan is in their house. Lijun was about to tell Shaohua her real identity when she overheard him telling her mother that he has fallen for another girl. She was upset as she thought he was referring to Yanyu.

Yanyu told Shaohua about Shiyuan’s whereabouts and he and Lijun rushed to Liu’s manor to save Shiyuan but they were too late. Lijun thought that Liu had brought Shiyuan to Huge Chi’s Manor and decided to save him there. Huge Chi did not attend court on the pretext that he is sick. On the Empress’s advise, Tie went to visit him as a nephew. Liu found Physician Shi to treat Gemi Si and Yingxue tested the skills of the physician. Lijun went to save Shiyuan at the same time that Tie was visiting Huge Chi’s manor. She saw Tie talking and laughing with Liu and though that they were in cahoots.

Ba Si Ba assassinated Tie without instructions from Huge Chi but failed. Huge Chi told Ba Si Ba to injure him so that Tie will not suspect him but Yingxue thought that the ‘assassin’ wanted to kill Huge Chi and was stabbed instead when she rushed forward to save him. Lijun is under the impression that Tie and Liu were in cahoots but Shaohua felt that they should find out more from Tie. Kuozhen was shocked to hear about the assassination attempt on Tie’s life and went to look for him. Huge Chi was grateful that Yingxue risked her life for him and decided to make her his goddaughter.


Eps 22

Tie was unhappy when the ministers asked him to reconsider his decision to replace the old generals and Huge Chi unexpectedly scolded them on him behalf. When Ruoshan found out that there will be an imperial exam, he wanted Mingtang to take the exam and bring glory to the family. Lijun sneaked int Liu’s manor to find out news about Shiyuan and is shocked to find out that he is going to be a scapegoat for a convict on death row, and will be executed after autumn. Lijun was found out by Kuibi just as she was leaving the manor and he released arrows at her. Luckily Shaohua appeared in time and with Yanyu’s help, they managed to escape. Lijun mocked Ruoshan for not helping his friend so he went to the Yamen to seek redress for Shiyuan. However, he was given 80 strokes of the cane instead and Lijun finally realized how officials will side with each other and apologized to Ruoshan. Ruoshan again brought up the subject of Mingtang taking part of the exams, saying that once he becomes an official, he will be able to save Shiyuan. However, Mingtang felt that he is not suitable for the dark world of politics.

Mrs Meng went missing and they finally found her at the restaurant Zui Xian Lou. They found out that before she lost her memory, she was waiting for Shiyuan at the restaurant and lost her mind after she was robbed there. Tie was suspicious of Hege Chi;s sudden change in attitude but the Empress felt that he could have been enlightened after Kublai’s death. Tie decided to break the rule and allow Yingxue to be conferred the title of Princess and the Empress supported his decision, thinking that this will resolve the differences between Tie and Huge Chi. On Yonger’s birthday, she was ecstatic when Ziru secretly gave her drumsticks and bought her a handkerchief.

Yingxue was shocked when she say Liu and son appearing at Huge Chi’s manor. Huge Chi, Gemi Si and Yingxue were overjoyed when they learned that Yingxue has been conferred the title of Princess. Mingtang passed the initial imperial exam. To make sure that he becomes the top scholar, Lijun forced him to study day and night. Ruoshan was unhappy with Lijun as he was concerned that Mingtang would not be able to take the strain.

Eps 23

Ruoshan scolded Lijun for ignoring Mingtang’s health as she was only concerned with saving Shiyuan. Shaohua consoled the upset Lijun. Lijun decided to take the exams in Mingtang’s place. She also asked Shaohua, Ziru and Yonger to practice their martial arts in the meantime in case she failed the exams and they have to rescue Shiyuan from the execution grounds. Lijun suddenly felt like learning martial arts from Shaohua but accidentally fell into his arms. Just as they were gazing into each other’s eyes, Tie arrived to witness this scene. Although Lijun behaved coldly towards him, Tie still asked if she needed any help. However, Lijun stated that there is a difference between Mongolians and Hans and even wanted to sever relationship with Tie. Tie left in a huff and was badly affected by Lijun’s attitude towards him. Kuozhen came to console him.

Jindong and the rest left the stockade for Dadu to look into why the court is holding an imperial examination. Yanyu’s nanny advised her to express her feeling for Shaohua before she regrets in future but Yanyu was apprehensive. Shaohua helped Ronglan send tea to Lijun, who had been studying through the night. He saw her handkerchief by chance and confirmed that she is a girl. Shaohua helped cover the sleeping Lijun with a robe and she fell asleep on his arm. Shaohua almost kissed her but controlled himself in the end.

Shaohua decided to rush to the stockade to get Jindong’s help to rescue Shiyuan from the execution grounds. However, he tore off the letter he wrote for Lijun just before he left but he secretly stole Lijun’s handkerchief as a memento. Ziru misunderstood that Shaohua took Yonger’s handkerchief and after much questioning, he realized that Shaohua thought that Lijun is Ziru’s cousin, and that he has fallen for her. Ziru wanted to tell him the truth but was afraid that the oath he made previously will come true and decided to get Lijun to explain to Shaohua.


Eps 24

Lijun went after the leaving Shaohua, shouting for him to stop but Shaohua steeled his heart and continued on his way. Lijun put together Shaohua’s torn letter and finds out about his feelings and she lamented that the both of them are not fated to be. Gemi Si was worried to see Yingxue restless. Yingxue was shocked to learn that Liu wanted to help out at Huge Chi’s manor and told Huge Chi about Liu’s evil doings in their hometown. Huge Chi said that since the court is busy preparing for the imperial exams, he is free to spend more time with his wife and daughter.

Lijun went for the exams in Mingtang’s place and fainted after emerging from the examination hall. Lijun’s essay caught Tie’s attention. Gemi Si had mixed feelings when she found out that the top scholar is Li Mingtang, her late daughter’s lover. Lijun was unconsciouss for a few days and when she woke up, she found out that she has become the top scholar and happily accepted the conferment in Mingtang’s name. Lijun, together with the 2nd and 3rd scholar went into the palace to meet the Emperor. Both Tie and Lijun were shocked to see each other.

Tie asked to see Lijun, hoping to find out if she has any problems, but Lijun was afraid that she would be charged for deceiving the Emperor, insisted that her real name is Li Mingtang, and Wei Ziying is just a name she made up herself. She also promised to do her best for the kingdom and to redress grievances. Ronglan felt that it was a waste that Lijun lost the chance to become the Empress but Lijun was more concerned that Tie would blame them for deceiving him. Shaohua overheard some people discussing to capture Huangpu Jing and Jindong for the reward and followed them. He was finally reunited with his father and teacher and found out that Jindon planned to assassinate the Emperor. Tie seemed to gain a new understanding after hearing the discussion between the Empress and Kuozhen on the story of Madam White Snake.

Eps 25

Lijun was posted to work in a department and was disappointed that grievance cases were handled by another department. She was surprised when Tie summoned her and appointed her to help redress grievances. Lijun immediately brought up Shiyuan’s case On seeing that the Official in front on him is Lijun, Shiyuan almost leaked out her identity but Lijun kept her cool. Liu was devious and Lijun decided to suspend his duties while investigations are underway. Ziru brought Mrs Meng to the jail to visit Shiyuan and Shiyuan prescribed some medicine for his wife.

Lijun kept her distance from Tie and Tie was peeved. The Empress fainted after she had to sit for a long period of time to have her portrait drawn and Tie asked Lijun to treat the Empress. Lijun was happy to meet the Empress again. Lijun also said that she can draw the Empress’s portrait without her sitting and Tie was glad when he saw the Empress and Lijun on good terms. Huge Chi met his cousin secretly to plan a rebellion. He later strongly advised Tie to attend the meeting for the 4 great Khans.

To please Lijun, Tie sent Asang Ge to the Top Scholar’s Manor with gifts. Ronglan took the opportunity to find out if Asang Ge is married. Tie forced Lijun to drink with him and tried to kiss her and the scene was witnessed by Kuozhen. Kuozhen was upset and Tie did not bother to offer any explanations. Lijun was afraid to offend Tie and risk Shiyuan’s hearing so she had no choice but to accompany him to the Khan’s meeting. Tie tried to force Lijun to decide between him and Shaohua.


Eps 26

To avoid Tie, Lijun made herself sick so that she could use her illness as an excuse to return to Dadu. Shaohua and Jindong were getting ready to assassinate the Emperor at the camp but did not expect Ba Si Ba to be ahead of them. Shaohua tried to kill the Emperor during the chaos and realized that the Emperor is Tie. Shaohua helped to kill the rebels instead and escaped with Lijun and Tie. When Ronglan regained consciousness, she only found the seriously injured Asang Ge and helped him.

Lijun was worried when she reached home and found that Ronglan has not returned. Huge Chi pretended to be concerned about the attempt on Tie’s life and to test Hugu Chi, Tie lied that the rebel had said that Huge Chi is part of the plan. Huge Chi brushed off his statement, claiming that it is an accusation. Kuozhen came with tea for Tie but he did not reciprocate her good intentions. Lijun was waiting for Shaohua to express his feelings for her and was annoyed when Shaohua kept silent. Asang Ge tried to become sworn brothers with Ronglan to repay her for saving his life and could not get her hint that she wants to marry him instead.

As a reward for saving his life, Tie appointed Shaohua as a General and told him to continues addressing him as brother. Huge Chi is aware that Tie has become suspicious of him and decided to pretend that all is well by helping Yingxue look for a husband through the colored ball contest. Tie tested Shaohua to find out if he knows Lijun’s identity and Shaohua lied for her. Kuozhen was unhappy to see Tie on good terms with Lijun and Shaohua and the Empress consoled her. Tie wanted to duel with Shaohua but his attacks were ruthless. In his anxiety, Shaohua accidentally injured Tie. When he returned home, Shaohua related the duel to the others and realized that it is dangerous being with the emperor.

Eps 27

Ziru felt that Lijun should tell Shaohua her real identity soon but she was more concerned with saving Shiyuan. Tie plans to send Shaohua to settle the uprising by the starving people in Shantong but Shaohua was reluctant to harm the people. Lijun suggested sending them food supplies to quell their hunger and Tie was displeased that she was helping Shaohua. Asang Ge and Ronglan finally returned to Dadu and Ronglan was reluctant to leave him. Liu tried to bribe other officials regarding Shiyuan’s case but the officials all kept their distance. Yanyu knows that Shaohua is not a general and hopes that he can plead with the Emperor for leniency. However, when she heard from Huangpu Jing that Liu deserves to be punished, she kept quiet.

Huge Chi arranged for Yingxue to throw the colored ball to look for a husband. While the men were fighting for the ball, it was accidentally kicked into Lijun’s sedan as she went past. Lijun remembered the relationship between Mingtang and Huge Chi’s late daughter and claimed that in memory of ‘his’ late love, ‘he’ has promised never to marry and rejected the match. The 11th Prince saw that neither Lijun nor Huge Chi would give in and suggested bringing this matter to the attention of Tie. Tie wanted use the opportunity to force Lijun to tell the truth but she would rather marry the Princess than reveal her identity.

Lijun was stunned to see her mother’s gold bangle on the the princess’s arm and the princess removed her veil to reveal Yingxue. The 2 girls were overjoyed at seeing each other and marveled at how things had turned out. Huge Chi and Gemi Si were curious to see a Han person hurrying off after paying respects at their late daughter, Baoer’s tomb. Tie was perplexed to hear from Huge Chi that the Princess and Lijun were enjoying their newly wedded life. Lijun obtained Huge Chi’s approval to bring Yingxue home to see Mrs Meng. Kuibi was shocked to see Yingxue on the road and decided to trail them and later discovered that Lijun is a girl.


Eps 28

Yingxue bumped into Mingtang when she went to pay her respects at Baoer’s tomb and was impressed with him. Kuibi told Liu about Lijun’s secret. During the trial, Magistrate Hu testified against Liu. At the same time, Kuibi was outside the court beating the drum and announced in public that Lijun is a girl and wants her to strip in public to prove that she is not. Lijun, Yingxue and the others racked their brains for a plan. Yingxue later told Huge Chi that she is the real Lijun and she had no choice but to lie to them that her name is Suyun, and that Kuibi’s accusations is groundless.

Yonger tried to find out from Ziru Lijun’s identity but without avail, while the bandits were guessing that Lijun had eloped months ago. Huge Chi attended Shiyuan’s trial. Yingxue scolded Kuibi in court and fainted. Shiyuan pointed out that she is pregnant but Kuibi did not believe him and brought his own physician to take Yingxue’s pulse and it turns out that she really is pregnant. Kuibi would not give up and brought Mrs Meng to the court to point out who is Lijun. Mrs Meng hesitated for a while before grabbing Yingxue’s hands and call her Lijun. Lijun heaved a sigh of relieve and banished Liu and Kuibi. It turns out that Mrs Meng has recovered her sanity after taking Shiyuan’s prescription and played along with the rest in court. The Meng family were overjoyed to be finally reunited.

Yanyu visited her father and brother and they expressed their worry that they will perish on the harsh journey. Yanyu went to look for Lijun to plead for leniency but when Lijun saw the jade bangle that Shaohua originally wanted to give her on Yanyu’s arms, she left in jealousy. Tie found out from Asang Ge that Ronglan had hinted that she is a girl and that Lijun planned to quit her position and return to her hometown with her family. Tie expressed his feelings for Lijun, saying that he can make her his Empress and his words were overheard by Kuozhen, who had come to tell him the good news that she is pregnant.

Eps 29

The Empress saw Kuozhen crying and asked her for the reason. Shaohua pled with Tie for leniency on Yanyu’s behalf and Tie told him that if he marries Yanyu, Liu and son would be saved. Shiyuan and Lijun went to the General’s Manor and Lijun thought that Shaohua would finally express his feelings for her. Never did she expect him to say that he will be marrying her enemy’s daughter. Huangpu Jing pointed that Lijun eloped initially, and told Shiyuan it is not his fault that he wants to back out of the marriage agreement. Lijun was offended. Yonger accidentally overheard the conversation between Ziru and Shiyuan and realized that Lijun is a girl, and that her gossips had caused Lijun to be accused of eloping. She was berated by Ziru.

Yanyu is aware that Shaohua’s heart is with someone else and is disturbed that he is marrying just to repay her and to save her family. Lijun planned to escape back to their hometown with her family when Huge Chi suddenly invited her and Yingxue to the Palace to attend a ceremony. Lijun had no choice but to arrange to meet up with her family somewhere else. Tie sent Asang Ge to trick Shiyuan into going to the Palace and forced him to stay in the Palace so that Lijun would not leave. The Empress hinted to Lijun that she is aware of her real identity and stated that she will not allow her to create trouble in the Palace. Lijun also hinted that her motive is just to save her father and she has no other intentions.

Huge Chi incidentally found out Lijun’s real identity and Tie’s feelings for her and came to a decision. On their wedding night, Yanyu told Shaohua that she is willing to be his wife in name only. Jindong suggested infiltrating into the Palace to save Shiyuan. The impulsive Ziru insisted that Shaohua go with him to save Shiyuan on his wedding night when Lijun came to stop him. Ba Si Ba was captured outside the borders and he had no choice but to confess to Tie that Huge Chi and the 4 Khans had collaborated to overthrow him. When Huge Chi learned that Ba Si Ba had been captured, he used Lijun’s life to threaten Tie to go to his Manor and publicly exposed Lijun’s identity. He also said that Tie fell in love with a Han woman and thus is not a good Emperor, so it is not illogical that he wants to take over the throne. Gemi Si was afraid that Huge Chi is making a grave mistake and told Yingxue to take her as hostage to force Huge Chi to give up. When Huge Chi was distracted, Shaohua took the chance to rescue Lijun but failed. The Empress then appeared and related an incident that happened when Huge Chi was younger. Huge Chi finally understood his father’s actions and surrendered.

Huge Chi was prepared to be punished and Gemi Si was willing to die with him. Yingxue was upset when she saw them drinking the poisoned wine. Yingxue met Mingtang again when she was paying her respects at the tomb of Huge Chi and Gemi Si. Tie tried to convince Lijun to revert to being a girl and be with him so that she will not be executed but she would rather die than to live under another’s rule. Jindong entered the palace to assassinate Tie but Shao stopped him. Shao said that there is a reason for the demise of the Song Dynasty and Tie is managing the country well. Jundong left in anger. Tie saw that Shaohua refused to threaten him to save Lijun’s life, and realized that he is the true gentleman.

Kuozhen attempted suicide and Tie managed to revive her. Soon after, Tie interrogated Lijun in court and the Empress also sat in the hearing. However, the prisoner brought up turns out to be Mingtang. It turns out that the Empress had thought of a plan to save Lijun, so the real Mingtang is now the top scholar. Yanyu left after leaving behind a letter. Shaohua and Lijun are finally reunited.
