Basically he said to the reporters that he started singing because he wanted to pick up girls. Back in high school, he thought that good ways to pick up girls were to either play an instrument, be good at basketball or know how to sing. So the reporters asked if it worked and he told them it didn't and that maybe he should've learned to play an instrument instead LOL
Personally I'm glad he picked singing because he has a beautiful voice
