Hi everyone,
I received the damaged drive back from my hosting company and attempted to mount the drive on a machine but it was not even recognized by BIOS. After a few tries, it was suggested that the drive be refrigerated. So the old spcnet.tv drive got taped up and put in my company's freezer overnight. When I took it out on friday night and tried again, the drive actually showed up in BIOS! But it could still not be read at all booting up as the master or slave drive.. just a loud clicking noise on the disk arm and might be the controller card that is damaged.
As the last attempt, I called up a couple of data recovery companies just to see what the pricing was and it was around $500- $1000 to restore drives, depending on the level of damage. So all in all, I decided it was just too expensive to get them to do it, especially considering that they don't guarantee that everything could be recovered anyway.
So now the old drive is sitting on my desk at home as my new paperweight and the site has been restored back to our last April backup.
Thanks everyone again for your patience!
