Default Sword Of The Outlaw 《长剑相思》

    Hi all

I just got this series, Chang Jian Shang Si (Long Sword Pining) and was wondering if it was nice, and more importantly, whether it has a good ending. I'm a weird kind of wuxia fan - if a story has a sad ending I normally don't want to watch it so that my escapism is rewarded with a good feeling at the end instead of a sad one.

I'm not even sure if it's Taiwanese or Chinese, but the text is all in jianbizhi, so the version I have has Chinese packaging at least. It looks very nice on the box, but I learnt from a few other series that you can't judge a series by its box. Anyone seen it yet?

Ha-Ha! I purposely avoid spoilers from threads and hate those opening and closing credits/theme songs that reveal too much so as to preserve the suspense and excitement of the plot for my own watching! But you are completely the opposite, checking out the finale first! Ha-Ha! Thanks a lot anyway!

    Spoilers:-

I've watched the ending - suffice to say I'm not up to watching 42 VCDs just to get depressed at the end, so I'm not going to watch it (and will probably give it to a relative who doesn't mind these things). It does look good, although the fighting does have a fair bit of CGI - that final fight had this villain playing drums and controlling waves of mud and ice. The main hero is played by Chen Kun, while Li Bingbing is the female lead. Li is killed by the guy with the drums, while Chen takes a boat with her corpse out to the waters before killing himself so they die together. It's sad enough as I watched it, I can imagine being really really gutted if I watched their romance blossom over 42 VCDs and got to like them.

It's annoying, because I've been searching for a good wuxia series with LBB as the female lead (I think she's quite underrated and has this look which is very suited to playing wuxia heroines)... and she has to go and die at the end... =(

Iaaannn! I dare not read your post with the spoiler heading!
Was it a good watch? The last good Wuxia I watched was China's Secret of Linked Cities. Is this better than that?

I really don't know how to answer you. It had a sad ending, so I didn't bother watching the rest of it, and can't really tell if it was good or not. =(

It's an enjoyable series except for the ending which designed to bring tears to the eyes. If you ladies like a good cry this ones for you. It has enough bad guys to make you hope someone will kill them and good guys to make you cheer. Also has the usual teenage girl brat with martial arts skills to provide laughs and some tears. Seems to be a common character type in a lot of series. There are many familiar faces in the secondary character parts. Watched the series about 2 months ago and started watching it again last night while I wait for HSDS to arrive in the mail.

    Default Finished the second viewing.

I forgot how much blood flowed in this series and there were few of the main characters left by the end. The actress that plays the teenage brat type is great and thankfully survives. (Anybody know her name?) She showed more facial expressions than anybody (except Li Bing Bing who was a close second) and even Chen Kun, who has few expressions, smiled when she was spouting off. Wish I could find an English synopsis for the series.

Her name is Li Qian, she played role Song Yuk Chi in TVB's Twin of Brothers and China's Happy Princess.

    Default Li Qian

Li Qian's acting has turned me into a critic of other actors. I now find myself noticing how actors faces respond to others actor's dialog. She could teach a lot of other actors because some-including some well known ones-could use it.
