For those who are wuxia fans but have missed this one, do catch this one.
It has all the elements of a great series and without any bad acting.
It has great looking leads, beautiful sceneries, good plot, storyline. love interests, CGI is acceptable and not over the top, interesting music.

The MV is great, I think Ancient series actor hard than Modern, this series they filming in Winter I guess cause when they talk I can see the cold smoke out the their mouth.

even though it doesn't follow the novel, the series is still good in my opinion. The clothes and background sceneries were breathtaking with bold colors. All the actors/actresses fit their role very well. HHB is the perfect ZDF and FBB is the perfect YL. Both are very well matched for the roles and on screen chemistry. At times I felt like it dragged a bit, but for the most part, I enjoyed it.

since i'm unable to get a hold of the 80's version, i'm trying to figure out if i should get this...the main grip i have with this series is that i don't like fan bing bing. something about her face bothers me...so i'm not sure if i can sit through a series knowing that i'll have to look at her (yes, i'm a hater...sue me). though i heard sun fei fei is really sweet in this series and steals the spotlight.

can a non-fan bing bing fan tell me if this series is worth it? or should i hold my breath for another remake (possibly 20 years later) or until atv releases a viet dubbed version of the 80's series?

well one thing to note is that it's not faithful to the book. I personally haven't read any Liang Yu Sheng works, so i can't verify how much it has deviated.

I'm not a big fan of FBB, you probably realise, but even if you think she looks weird, i will assure you that she looks very nice in this series- in fact i can't remember any sweeter in terms of looks. Her acting is ok, as is Huang Hai Bing's, but their love story is quite predictable and boring.

The princess SFF and Zhong's story is more interesting- in fact, i loved SFF in this role- definitely a highlight for me.

Kong Lin sucked (what did you expect) but she has a pretty minor role.

The music is good, both themesongs are appropriate, and videos are very well constructed, particularly the end theme. If anything, watch the end theme.

The special effects are unfortunate, but not completely woeful.

I think it's definitely worth a watch though.
