Recently in Macau to do a photo shoot with good pal Dylan, Ady was spotted having a fun and cosy time with her partner in a casino.

Shanghai has recently started airing Ady's latest serial, "Yun Niang", a drama based on one of Qiong Yao's novel. Audience ratings have been very good so far and many people have praised Ady for her acting, which strays away from her usual loud and bubbly characters to a pitiful and tortured character. Veteran actress Liu Xuehua co-stars in this series.

i like ady's hair in the 2nd picture. It goes well with her [: she looks so much prettier in this series than the one with Peter Ho.

Saw episode 1, and like Ady in here so far (I'm still hoping she'll not dissolve into a Flying Fox type character) and also like the lead actor, Feng Shao Feng (aka Feng Wei). He had a very sympathetic character in "The Drive of Life". I'm not usually am not into Qiong Yao stories, a little too much melodrama, but I'll definitely keep on this for at least awhile to see Ady.![]()
Any other comments on the other episodes yanfeng?? The last episode is airing on Shanghai channels tonight and apparently every episode has drawn in high ratings up till date.![]()

Hi Sunnysnow,
Sadly I haven't been able to see anything else so far- but here are, I think, the opening and ending sequences

From these you can sort of tell Ady's character will be somewhat of a typical Qiong Yao heroine- a lot of being bullied and suffering- am keeping my fingers crossed that she will also be strong and smart and a little bit comic/happy at points.![]()
Thank u for the clips yanfeng!
Yeah Ady plays a typical QY heroine who's always bullied and tortured by her mother-in-law, played by Liu Xuehua. I read that she's supposedly strong and intelligent, on top of being sweet and kind..sort of like Ziwei in HZGG i guess. And gosh, the theme videos look so dramatic. I dont like QY's dramas much because they're always full of tears, exaggeration and parts which drag in the middle. Also, her plots and characters always seem to take on unrealistically extreme sides.
That aside, Ady's acting seems fine in the clips, especially her crying scenes.

O Noooo, not a ZiWei character! I hate Ziwei!!
Why can't she play a Xiao Yan Zi character? haha
I don't like QY dramas either.. but still I hope Ady is going to play it well
Agree that Ady's acting looks great in the clips- surprisingly my favorite bit of the clip is when Ady apparently is united with her real father. I like the actor for her biological dad, and it seems like he plays another fair, but strict, guy here- and I'm looking forward to their reunion scene (Ady's tears here seem half joyous and half sad, nicely done!)![]()
Not sure if its already here somewhere, but the ending song for Yun Niang is actually quite nice:

Its titled "原谅你犯下的错"- or "Forgiving your wrongs", quite a nice tune- anyone know who sings it? (Dare we hope its the lead actor Feng Wei?)
"Are you man enough to eat tofu?"

STOP using DHMO! It kills innocent lives!
I think I've said this before but I have no doubts about Liu Xuehua in a wicked witch role. She did a similar role in "Miracle Healers" as the notorious Empress Lu and was very good in it. Somehow, Liu Xuehua excels in giving cold, piercing, killer stares.
I've never seen her in the poor young thing role before though I read that she used to do alot of such QY heroine roles in the past. As a result, she joked that she's delighted at having the opportunity to play a role opposite to those she has done in the past. For once, she gets to bully people, instead of the other way round.![]()

I thought that scene looked good, as well as this other scene when she seemed to be crying and screaming out loud when a girl dies in her husband's (?) arms.
The song sounds alright. I think its sung by He Jun Ming 何俊明 - at least thats the name the user tagged, together with the title of the series and title of the song.

Just done with Epi 5, and Ady's still looking good so far. Nothing too stunning in terms of character development, more plot ones. And actually my favorite character so far is Ady's biological dad! He's a cool guy, and seems very soft and forgiving in contrast to the "wicked witch" character that belongs to Xue Hua.
It _is_ funny seeing Xue Hua at the opposite end of the abusing.)) I've seen a few episodes over the years of her Qiong Yao weepy heorine days, and I like her better here.
I confess the actresses for the wealthy Gu family daughter and the kid actress for Ady's "little sister" are grating at me. They deliver their lines with exaggerated whiny pitches.... urg! Thank goodness they're minor characters!
Qiong Yao's male leads tend to, in my opinion, be less gutsy than they should be, and somewhat mom-dominated. Feng Wei's character seems headed in that general direction, though his acting is good!
Overall: Funny spots here and there, some modest character development (Yun Er has inherited her mom's sewing skills and her adopted family's herbal knowledge) but a little too much drama (already 1 false wedding, 1 death and 2 hitting people with lots of tears scenes!) in the first few episodes.
Ha!Just occured to me that in Wuxia, women characters tend to be very passive, don't have their own stories outside of their relationship to male characters, plus are dad-dominated/obedient. While in Qiongyao (and other romance) stories, the men tend to be passive, don't have their own stories out of their relationship to the female leads, and are very mom-dominated/obedient.
Perhaps its the traditional target audience of these two genres that give rise to the gender stereotypes!
