i want to hear ADy's album
I do too... are there anymore clips out there besides that one slow song and the clip from Tian Xiang? Actually I'm looking for the whole version of Tian Xiang.. :/Originally Posted by Sugar
There's only that short audio clip of Ady recording "Tian Xiang" as of now. Her album will be released in April. Her debut MV, "Xiao Lian Jing Xing Qu" (Song of the tiny face) will be aired in the mainland this coming monday.Originally Posted by Cacophony
Some shots from filming, shooting apparently took place during winter and poor Ady had to endure the cold as she dawned on a sleeveless dress to make the MV seem sunny and spring-y.

2 new songs (complete versions) from her unreleased album available online now.
"Xiao Lian Jing Xing Qu", which MV was aired in mainland China yesterday. Compared to all the songs I've heard from her, this is probably the worse, and the one i dislike the most. A very kiddy and typical cutish taiwanese pop song which focuses more on cuteness than emotions/vocals.

Why must all the actress-turned-singers have some kinda silly candy-floss, no-sense-lyrics type of song on their debut album? (Ady, LYF and Eva)
On a more positive note, here's the complete version of "Tian Xiang", the mandrain rendition of "God is a Girl". Although i dont like the idea of copying an original tune and making it your own, I think this is possibly Ady's best out of all the songs I've heard. Her voice starts out slightly weak at first but improves alot as the song progresses and she sounds relatively stable (her pitch) and husky at certain parts even. They made the tempo slower than the original and added extra musical instruments etc. The lyrics, written by Da Zhang Wei is rather beautiful sounding and matches the mood somewhat as well.
Here's the full version:

Unfortunately, I could only find the shorter/cut version for d/l here:

thanks sunny..
eh, first song.. bubble pop..... Doesn't take a genius to sing that. I heard sunny can top that yah?
the 2nd one is alright.... i think it is better than that song where it sounded like she ripped off her hair.
i'm still downloading the second song, but the first is unfortunately... rather bad... in fact, i prefer LYF's blueberry song over this one, which is just... well, it's not catchy and it's even worse than LYF's vocally.
ady needs to watch the movie "my name is fame', will make her a better actress. and her songs are pretty bad. charmaine can sing better than her ^^

Ady's a good actress but her singing isOriginally Posted by LuNaR
Probably except "Tian Xiang" which she sounds pretty ok. As for Charmaine being a better singer, it's really difficult to judge because i think she's a lousy singer as well..it's a matter of deciding whos worse..she or Ady.
I can't really say that LYF's a better singer than Ady because LYF sounds very different on her album and live (much worse on the latter) and the fact that she recieved a year of professional training in Japan, had famous songwriters pen her songs and Sony experts working on the recording just shows how hopeless she is in singing. Im not defending Ady but her recording works were pretty rushed (less than 6mths, with only a mth of voice training) compared to the preparation and help LYF recieved for her debut album.Originally Posted by 0-0-0

Ady should just stick to actingOriginally Posted by sunnysnow
i'd definitely prefer her on screen than singing. Charmaine and Ady are probably equally lousy, but you can never tell due to technology. I have to say, Charmaine's songs seem to sound nicer though- it's not an indication of how good a "singer" she is though.
BTW Sunny, do you know what happens at the end of FFSM to Ady's character Miao Ruo Lan?
No idea, someone has apparently posted that he/she has watched the last episode in this series thread but i've yet to recieve some spoilers.Originally Posted by 0-0-0

The MV has apparently been aired in mainland earlier this week but i've yet to see it floating around on the net.

You've gotta be kidding! I'm not taking the time to download and listen to it if that's true. There can't be a song worse than that one in terms of lyrics! "merry-merry-go-round, funky funny playground" and "lovely lonely baby girl, shiny skinny boogie boy"? It doesn't get worse than that, does it?Originally Posted by 0-0-0

I can't seem to open the first song. I get the error page.
I still like the Tian Xiang song though. Too bad there's no version to download.
I'm not too crazy about that cover pic of her...she just looks tired and the smile looks forced. It's not too bad, but she's looked so much better. Maybe it's the lighting?
Personally, I'd say they're both bad and both better at acting (although Ady is clearly stronger in this area). The only actress I know that can sing well, excluding musical theatre stars, would be Anne Hathaway, and maybe Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman aren't bad. The Asian ones tend to be a bit less multitalented.Originally Posted by sunnysnow
I guess I'm more picky than the average person because many people I sing with have really good relative pitch or even perfect pitch, but come on, LYF live is practically tone deaf. You have ONE YEAR of professional training and you can't even stay on key? That's a hint that music isn't your thing. Besides, she's supposedly played piano since she was a little child? That's supposed to give you a musical ear.
Naturally the album always sounds better, since voice editing does so much. Like you can take the note from measure 2 and replace it with the note from measure 9 or blend them together...
As for Ady, her voice is unusually soft in her recorded songs. I don't know if this is because she has a weak voice, or if they're purposely making it soft. I mean, with voice editing, you can easily make the entire thing louder. I think the real test is if she can sing on pitch live. It's so sad how it's good now if these actress-turned-singers can even stay on pitch, let alone possess an outstanding tone quality.
Lastly, for someone with professionally written lyrics, I can't say much for LYF's blueberry song. And "Fang Fei Mei Li" has kind of crappy lyrics too. I like Ady's song "Ru Guo Na Tian Mei You Yu Jian Ni" though - very relaxing. Hey sunnysnow, wasn't there a clip once of Ady singing "Bu Gong Ping" from Dou Yu? I remember one...I'll try searching for it.

a lot of the Hollywood actors/actresses are pretty decent at singing and acting- you can tell by the fact that they get actors/actresses to do voiceovers in animated films rather than professional dubbers. On the other hand, imagine watch Finding Nemo or Happyfeet with a cast of Chinese actors/actresses. When you look around Hollywood, very few of them can't handle a simple dubbing role, while in Chinese entertainment, very few have a voice that is tolerable for the audience.Originally Posted by Sparky
you're kidding o.o you can't play an instrument since you were young and still have such bad relative pitch. Perfect pitch is rare, but given that she's got background music, she shouldn't be THAT bad, to the point where she can't find the right key!Originally Posted by Sparky
well it's actually possible that they're not adjusting it, because if you listen to a lot of Chinese pop, the vocals are very weak- yet the songs are still popular. It's like no one cares about how crap their voices are... so maybe they decided not to bother.Originally Posted by Sparky
hm, lyrics wise, excluding "blueberry, raspberry... something something... STRAWBERRY. merry merry go round, funky funky PLAYGROUD!" the remaining songs of LYF/Ady have pretty so-so lyrics. Tian Xiang is alright, but based on her other song, the cutesy one, i'm more inclined to buy LYF's album than Ady's if i was sadly forced into buying either.Originally Posted by Sparky
i am being totally honest when i say that i'd rather listen to the Blueberry song than Ady's cutesy one. Don't download it!
So far, i've heard the three songs "Ru Guo Na Tian Mei You Yu Jian Ni", the cutesy one, and "Tian Xiang." Why doesn't she stick to acting?
I don't mind if she does a sub theme for a series or something, but actually releasing an album...
