How did Jin Yong characterize the relationship between Wong Yung and Lee Ping (Gwok Jing's mother) in the LOCH novel? In LOCH '82, they met on only two occassions (and didn't really interact with each other; they just happened to be in the same place with Gwok Jing). In the '82 series, Lee Ping didn't seem particularly fond of Wong Yung: she thought the girl got Gwok Jing into many dangerous situations, and had "corrupted" his morals somewhat (besides, Lee Ping preferred Princess Hua Jeng, whom she was familiar with and liked). Wong Yung respected Lee Ping as Gwok Jing's mother, but that's as much as we know about Wong Yung's thoughts on her future mother-in-law.
I'm guessing the novel characterized their relationship differently. Lee Ping really didn't have any specific reason to dislike Wong Yung and besides, she should be grateful to the girl for saving her son from harm on a dozen occassions (especially in the early days when he first arrived in China). Was their relationship addressed at all in the LOCH novel?
